Does anyone know this portuguese artist named Rão Kyau? He is the true master of the flute, his music is representative of several influences, more linked into arabic music... he tryes to cross portuguese popular and ancient (mediaval) music with arabic melodies and rytmhs, using the flute as his instrument!! dont miss this one...

yes the opening track is beautifull... search this guy...HE IS AMAZING!! i ear him since i was a litlle boy, he is very known in portugal!! glad you liked..

He's kinda of our Raja Ram! Linked to Morocco and to India!

well, rao kyao's "flautas da terra" doesn't
sound like shpongle at all. just got it and i'm listening to it as i'm writing. this album isn't as hypnotic and indian influenced as the track on the web site (this was the stuff i was looking for) but it's not bad either. hold on! now were getting a bit of india too (track 9) after visiting greece. this is truly a world music album with influences from many eastern and meditarranean countries. the ambience is light and positive, "easy listening" music would describe it perhaps best. some tracks are a bit too cheesy for my taste
but hey, if i imagine a nice get together in the evening when it's still warm, paperlanterns hanging in the trees, happy faces, delicious flavours arising from cooking pots and this band playing in the background with some people dancing i'd say i would be pretty happy  |
