aloah @ll

i was really tired of the ear-ringing "sssssssmm" and mounted this one on my cpu.

http://www.papstplc.com/downloads/DC/8400nvar.pdf
--> 8412 nglv
--> if anyone knows of a less noisy one, plz post it...

before i had the "standard" amd-xp-box-cooler on it...my board says 64 °C

i ve got it now for a week n all works fine.
use the same on a athlon thunderbird 900 too, runs fine ( using 16 h/day ).

...really worth the money...

Here's a nice selection of case fans and their noise levels:
http://www.directron.com/noise.html

basicly Zalman, Panaflo and Enermax 80mm will be good with the noise.

Take a look on Gigabyte new 3D Coolers,

http://tw.giga-byte.com/Peripherals/Products/Products_NewProduct_List.htm

Very nice and quiet, you can also control the speed and the temperature          Space is the place

nice one trip...

in the psu i ve got an enermax and it s pritty quiet too...though i still prefer the "pope". -soon i ll change it too...a papst u can get for about 25/30.-$ (variofan )

gigabyte seems to be nice too...though i guess it will harm the overall ventilation in the case. -how much it will cost ?

the gigabyte cost about 35$ and is not harmful to the overall ventilation in the case-           Space is the place

35.- is really a faire price...
harmful may be a bit exaggerated, but for shure it s worster ( i didn t find any specs, but accordingliy to the pic it s ~90mm high, so it s like a tower on the mobo...airflow don t likes towers...). even stadard ide-cable are harmful for the airflow. -therefore are round ones available...

yeah. the humming really bugs me sometimes. i put the comp on the floor, under the desk, and it kinda muffled a little. but a noiseless turbofan would kick ass, although i dont think there was one invented..           "There are only two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity" -- Albert Einstein

*a noiseless turbofan would kick ass*
there are peltier-elements ( cooling-device which works using electrical current to cool )...search the web for peltier, or heatpipe. though i recommend it only if your mobo has cpu-overheat-protection. -these peltiers can die unexpected n then...
or there are watercooling-solutions, but imo even more scary than the peltier...

if u got a quiet fan then the HD will be the most noisy device....so no need for peltier or whatever...
