Can psy-trance parties end at two? What does everyone think about short parties?           my cat is deathly afraid of aluminum foil

i hate parties that end at two. just when im getting worked up and getting ready to really feel the music it stops and the lights go on. although i would like more all day parties. . . the sun is beautiful.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

the thing is that in most large cities where there is a trance scene big enough to get a decent turnout, there are laws that prevent the venues (i.e. clubs that have liquor licenses) from staying open any later than 2 or so.
last month, the city of atlanta just passed a new ordinance that forces all venues to shut down by 2:30 am... including the clubs that previously had 24 hour liquor licenses and were exempt from the former 3:30 last-call rules. there has been a big public out-cry from the EDM community here, but unfortunately is just wasn't enough to convince the city council otherwise.. all because of a couple of isolated murders that happened outside of a hip-hop club on the other (tourist-infested) side of town.
i would love to go to a party or two here in town at a venue that doesn't serve alcohol and is not subject to the closing times that the city has imposed, but those are few and far between and tend to be dominated by rave-events with very young crowds, meaning that is very hard to persuade those people who are over 21 to go. also, it is very hard to find a non-bar/club venue that has any kind of sound-system, so that makes it even more difficult to find a place that can accomidate a late-night event.
as far as parties during the day are concerned, i think that is a wonderful idea, especially if it means that those bars and clubs can be open and serve legally (so they can afford to stay in business). i would really like to see this become available as an option in the near future..
outdoor daytime events would be nice too, but i don't foresee that becoming something that people would want to go to until the weather warms up a little bit first..
