The Canon HF G10 delivers great video quality and a lot of useful features for advanced shooters. Design issues that affect frequently used adjustments may annoy the very people it is designed to attract, and for the money it should ship with a double-capacity battery. However, compared with the rest of Canon's camcorders, one of the distinguishing features of the G10 is support for true 24p video; not just the 24 frames per second captured as progressive but encoded as 60i, as is most common for AVCHD models, but 24p encoding. You can use that to get around interlace issues.
Sometimes, we need to convert AVCHD to other formats for specific necessary. For instance, I have some videos with G10 and want to save/copy/burn/convert AVCHD to H.264 HD MP4.
Below is a tutorial to convert AVCHD to 1280*720 H.264 HD MP4 at 2800kbps. Let's take a look!
Step1. Import or drag & drop AVCHD progressive
Click "add video" or "add folder". You can also drag & drop directly. This program supports batch conversion and it's easy for you to convert several files at one time. Here I suggest preview task before transcoding HF G10 AVCHD to MPEG4 H.264.
Step2. Select H.264 MP4 as output format
Just click "Format" icon in the main interface. Choose HD Video> H.264 HD video (* mp4). You can directly enter MP4 in the search bar.
If you want to play AVCHD on iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, etc, you can directly choose proper MP4 under the devices.
Step3. How to watch convert AVCHD to H.264 HD MP4 at 2800kbps/
Click format, directly enter 1280*720 and 2800kbps in the respective input box. And then click "Save As", enter 1280*720 2800kbps after HD H.264 video (* mp4) and click OK to save your customized MP4 for archive. Next time, you can directly pick out HD H.264 video (* mp4) 1280*720 2800kbps under Custom Menu as output format. Click "Delete", you can remove the customized video.
Step4. Transfer AVCHD to MP4
At last, click the "Convert" icon. iMedia Converter for Mac will run fast conversion to convert AVCHD to H.264 HD MP4 at 2800kbps. You will be able to get the output files via clicking on "Open" button.
