So... here is an article / video I made that walks through a technique I have for compositions and songwriting in ableton live. Stoked to finally share this one.

Thats a nice tip.
I usually use the add mark tool but using midiclips makes it even clearer.
Got me some ideas, thanks!.           .

Great tip! Ableton should really improve on the markers, and this is a really nice workaround for the moment

This is even more useful if you use dummy audio clips (just press 0 [zero] to deactivate a clip while selected) on a master audio channel, with in-clip modulations So you re-use the dummy clips for something else - more bang for your buck!

So, you can save the master effects automations inside the clip as clip modulations, and that will help out a lot if you go back into the session view - you just need to copy the dummy clips as well

Say you have a big buildup with master effects (I do.. or at least I try ) - you can trigger this buildup anytime during the session, creating the full arrangement on-the-fly while still having fine and precise tweaks and automations going on at key points.
