The Not So Lonely Planet - Psy-trancers Global Strength Grows!!!
Our DJ Mag Feature on Psy-trance has been published. 30 April - 13 May Issue.
Hi all!
Just a quick email to say a big THANKS to everyone who helped us with this feature.
I promise to send copies to those who helped out.
If you get a chance - please do have a read and do let me know your honest opinion.
A lot of it has been edited and unfortunately we did not have a choice with regards to the pictures they used.
Please note - that we wrote this feature through the eyes of two people who are new to the scene. I believe this is a good thing as most people who read DJ mag - most prob wouldn't have a clue about psy-trance or are on the same level as we are.... I don't know what I am trying to get at with this!!!!!
Take care for and looking forward to your opinions!
Cioa

unless someone can be bothered to type or scan in the article then i think not.. i would scan it if i had a scanner..
the article is ok i think.. nothing particularly controversial in it and a fair reflection.. certainly of the uk stuff that i know well.. slightly irritating captions on the pictures but that is just the dj mag way i guess..
thanks evy and your friend for taking the time to do some proper research and write this!

Hey Tom!
Thanks for your opinion of the article. I too was not impressed with the immature captions on the pictures, but hey, what can you do?
I will try and scan the pages over the weekend. Not sure how readable it will be though.
Ciao for now.

I thought the article was in general a fair representation of the psy-trance scene, though I believe it's more a religion than just a lifestyle to us addicts. And one that's thrived despite the fact that psy-trance has had zero coverage in the mainstream music press in recent years.
Articles like the ones in the Observer and DJ can only be a good thing as the music is so beautiful and it would be selfish to not want to share it with the ignorant masses. |

we need an international psy mag! Just like those DJ Mag, Ministry ( I dont know if it still exists), X-Fade, Mix Mag and etc. It has to start somewhere, the only one I know off is Mushroom Mag or Media but it is in German. </BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE><!-- incode Quote End -->
There is actually the "International" version of Mushroom which is in English. It does not come out every month (more like 2 or 4 times per year), but it is fairly good from what I remember.
EnTrance also is an international psytrance mag in English. It is a web-based journal (I forget the address - do a search in the forum), but I also found it to be quite good.

The pics are not THAT bad. But my question is, if you really want to find out about Psytrance, why not simple browse the forums??
As far as I know, only one person actually answered all your questions!!??
Anyways, I think the article is a little bit misleading. Don't necessarily agree with some of the quotations from the people who interview... And I think it is debasing. For example, the guy who said about the Drugs.. There's no need for that. As uncommon as it may sound, there ARE MANY people who enjoy this music and don't take drugs... Of course, they can help to enhance the experience, yet by no means is it an essential component of it.
What is the actual goal or accomplishment in writing this article besides personal growth?? What is your purpose in writing this???
Just curious!!
Peace!!! |
