question on linking computers hard drives.

me again,
I just bought a rack mount amd. I make most of my stuff on my powerbook g4. is there an easy way to link the two hard drives together like maybe a firewire to the firewire on the other computer making it show up as an external hard drive or do I just have to drag audio files onto my external and plug it in to the other computer everytime I need to transfer. is there an easy possible way?
Im not converting its just cheaper than a g5 to get everything in my new home studio working

I'd go for a ftp server client solution. should work with usb/firewire/ethernet.
for using both computers with the same interface you could use vnc.
wormhole or fx teleport could work as a pluginhost so you can use the amd for virtual instruments or a sampler in your host of choice.
I think there are pc/mac versions of all those apps/plugs around.

are you planning to share the hard disks production wise? I mean having shared access to audio material on both computers to be used in you sequencer ?
I never use external HD's for multitracking due to latency, only internals. linking up your computers will probably still introduce latency. If you only want file sharing just network the systems and maybe create a network drive...
but then again perhaps I'm lagging behind current technology...

hei man, iff you like to connect 2 apple computers, just use firewire to conncet them, the secret is to restart one of the comp, and press the letter - T - untill a diferent screm apperas.
The HD icon(restarted comp) will appears on your desktop just drag files the way you whant:)

ya itd be nice to use them in conjunction but I think with the givin recources its just be wise to go with network for file transfer. thanks for the help
