Sometimes do you feel that there are sounds that you would like to incorporate in your music but the software lacks in some sense ? are all the tools that you would ideally like to use available to you .. ? coz i feel there might be so many sounds that are unexplored which would be alien to the human ear .. what's your take on this ?

i blow thousands on hands on gear and analogue synths to make the sounds with my bare hands, i found the software i was using way , way too limiting, back in '98
its been hardware ever sense.

evolve? these days before you can battle an eyelid there something new being invented .. softwares that that are being used will be obsolete in no time .. re - invention is the name of the game
so you are saying that this is all we can achieve music wise ? are the softwares totally sufficient ?is there no scope for a even more evolved scene ? is there nothing new that we can come up with other than the same ol over used formula ? im no musician but i'm just thinking from a listeners pov !

@ exotic: i started making music with hardware, then used more and more software and now, i'm even building my own hardware control surface to control everything, sx mixer and plugins, vsti and even other hardware synths. i love the way to work with hardware and knobs, and i dislike the mouse. |

I'm just saying that you shouldn't limit yourself to hardware just because you have an illusion that hw is the real deal... there are a lot of good software products out there! |

it's all about the method, the way you work today, it isn't just the creativity and the genius you are but all the enviroment you decided to live on, it's what inspires you, it's how you face the sun and salut the moon... don't expect to be touched by the hand of god or be enlightened by the divinal...
... i'm running out of ideas |

If these synths were hardware, they would be pretty expensive I think. And here you get some awesome software synths for free! God bless Ugo.
=((exotic>>>=== : I don`t know man. I think soundprocessing
can do a lot of cool things to your sound. But I think sometimes the hardest part is to make these crazy sounds fit into a song. But hey, if you want it bad enough it will probably work in the end
Here`s a thought: What if someone could make ONE single melody that would change the whole scene? It`s happened before I believe (without being able to pinpoint). The melodies that sits in your head for ages are, to me, a lot more rewarding than a super crazy sound alien to my ear.
I see a lot of people in this forum talking about "cheese" and "fluff" (My dear pal PKS included hehe). It seems that a lot of people miss the old days, but now they can`t stand one single catchy melody without it being to cheesy for them. In the old days, melodies were the key ingredients! At least in the biggest releases. But they weren`t "cheesy"? oh well, maybe not.
Save the melody!

what if the melody that sits in your head is the super crazy sound thats alien coz it sits in your head .. see coz as as a listener i feel that there is so much out there that we people as music fraternity are not addressing .. we are just happy with things getting recycled .. which do sound gud to the ear but its the same ol thing done just with a little tinkering .. there's nothing spectacular happening .. nothing new .. the only high point last year was v/a schism ( spelling ?) by gi'wa .. there is so a lot of taste that has gone into producing that album .. i can see a lot of jazz inflences .. its that something different is always striking and pleasing to the ear ! we as music people are not pushing the frontiers to achieve something new ? what say you

=((exotic>>>=== : Damn man you are right! Too much recycling. But it`s like that with all kinds of music. haha just look at the Death Metal scene. Same riffs over and over. But sometimes... sometimes there are some fresh ingredients. Fresh sounds, fresh samples. It is hard to put a finger on what exactly is new in a song. It`s just a feeling I guess... |

its not hardware or software .. ist the mind behind the beats .. imo the only limiting factor .. with sound the posibilities are endless and infinite
