Indian Classical music loving it since the first time I really heard it, Ravi Shankar music touched me deep. So lightfull and touches soul he is ilummined I believe, heard and read lots about it, also a book by him about his life the only deep book(old one from the 60s)that I read in one turn, was so interesting.. but I know that I don't really know much about it.
Have also lots of cd's and vinyls etc but I guess he has hundreds. Would love to expirence a long raga played by or with him but didn't happen that he came in the near for the last two decades.
May he keep his spirit on earth alive for long.. Great master. Thanks for response and videos Karma Konnect

Nice topic here.

Indian Ragas are of extreme spiritual content, many of them are transcendental and apropriated for ones consciousness development, hence why it can make you feel great and in tune with the universe.

For beguiners I leave you with a simple question answer example:

Lets say you have 8 bars and you wanna do a melody within them, split them into 2 sections of 4 bars, your first section of 4 bars will be your question and the second section will be your answer.

Write a melody from root to fifth(in C major would be from C to G) inside the first section of 4 bars.

Now split the first section(question) in to 2 sections of 2 bars.

Now arrange both parts in a way that both use the same intervals(of space).

Repeat the process for the second section of 4 bars(answer) but going from fifth to root and finishing on the strong beat.

This will give you a nice basic melody.           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com
