So im very excited about being able to see Ott on dec 29th, he's startin to play more dates in the US..but i hear all he does at the live shows is just pushin buttons. some say they could just slip on skylon through big enough speakers and have thier own ott set..regardless of what he does, im still very excited to be seein him....comments?

his live rig gives a lot of flexibility with the arrangements... if you listen closely then you'll notice that the material is quite different to the studio versions. In a number of tunes i thought the live versions were better yet than the studio versions.

he played for us on salt spring with the new rig and it was a huge success.

I am pretty sure that someone that highly respected as an artist has prinicples when it comes to live sets. I mean some artists actullay look like they are checking their mail on stage.

I havent had the chance to see OTT live thou, so i cannot go from experience.

He's pushing buttons all right, the buttons in your head...           ---------------------------------------------

Am sure it would be fun but my one time left me thinking that while the music blew me away, his didn't have that presence on stage that makes you go "wow" as well, but he is a mind bender of an engineer so listen well and let him tickle your mind!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Not sure about the popular artist <> principle thing.
I saw Sasha playing a stereo file at one of his show straight out of a MAC G5 desktop and a bunch of controller connected.very impressive set up but......

I think he tweaks a fair bit, but whether live or at home I'm not sure, but he did post here years ago saying he uses Traktor DJ Studio.           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

well I can confirm this...last 2 years on Ozora he mixed both his tracks with others...all from the laptop so I guess Traktor is his software of choice...in any case I wouldn't call it a live act           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

truly live would be a band generating all their sound in real time

for electronic producers the difference often lies in the ability to make new arrangements on the fly.

so the word "live" is used in different ways

the material in his sets that i heard recently was in no way a carbon copy of the studio versions.

Assuming that what you hear hasnt been prepared beforehand and not "arranged" on the fly.

Bear in mind Im not directing this to OTT at all,I saw him playing twice only and they were both djset , I have no idea what his live consist of.

Im just generally pointing out what is usually meant as "live" is just dj set with a laptop, not extra tweaking that you would do more than with a djmixer and a kaoss pad.
