sorry for a other topic about sample rate... but in a 96 khz project the sample of drums i m using are in 44.1 ,the sequencer convert them in 96khz when i import them..., is there a big loss of quality when coming back to 44.1? or the sample ll be exactly the same as before any convertion . |

thoereticly there is lost.
like turn mp to wav and back to mp , the "data pixels" will fall not 100% on same spots they were.
it might actualy pay off for the general mix tho if u have synths and stuff that do work on 96khz.

No, there is no loss. IMO 96 Khz sample rate DAC/ADC is the only marketing issue. High sample rates like 88,2 or 96 Khz are really need only as internal (!!!) synth's sample rates, especially if you use FM synthesis. There are no any other reasons for using sample rate higher than 44,1 or 48 Khz except internal synth's sample rate. 24 bit is realy needed bitdepth, but 96 KhZ is the marketing issue IMO. By the way, if you work at high sample rate - better choice is 88,2 Khz, if you plan to mixdown your result to 44,1 Khz wave file - or do the downsampling from 96 Khz in adobe audition or in voxengo rbrain, because 96 is aliquant to 44,1, and this conversion has some complications... |

Just use 44.1 during the entire process. Keep your project 44.1 and also your samples.
