Hey guys....
There are lot of track that have been remixed by various artists on various compilations & albums.
I am refering to only Trance...not any other scene....
Example:- On the compilation New world order there are couple of these...
1)Desorietation ( wizard lizard rmx) by SEROXAT.
2) Sars (toxic rmx)by WINTER DEMON.

In these cases...in these cases...do both the artist gets paid...
Or how does this work...?

Usually the artist who wants to remix another artist's track gets in touch with him.
Its a more personal thing than in the Eurodance scene. Here usually the remixer is friends with the originator.

Also I think the tracks are probably owned by the Label once bought from the artist. So maybe its they who decide ( Im not sure abt this opinion )

As for the payment, i think the original artist does recieve something, but its hardly anything in this scene.

It depends.. some artists are really cool about remixes and others ask to get paid just to have there tracks remixed (greedy fucks) regardless if you own the track or not.....

no labels or artists to answer this question?           The fact that no one understands you doesn't make you an artist:.

well, technically, i'm half a label so far.. I'll get my magical "Green" status by the end of this year with the release of my first compilation.

@ weed eater: 250$ is more than enough to give the label rights to remix the track IMO, especially when most artists ask for an exclusivity limit to 2 years. (that means, two years after you buy the track, the label loses the rights to the track, practically making the label extinct and music-less).           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! Usually the artist that makes the remix ( i.e the remixer ) gets a flat fee for his work

The artist that is the original writer of the tune supposed to get the dividends from the CD sales, as u can understand he gets none. Those that belong to publishing bodies suck as GEMA, CODA, ACUM can get the mechanical rights fees for every CD sold.

The connection between the remixer and the owner of the original track can be either completely business like ( I think u r fit to make a good remix that is why I asked u ) or they might be friends, that the idea came up in a conversation and became serious. There are also cases of artists that heard certain track and wanted to remix it - asked the original writer for the files etc..           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.
