ok, i got this question...
when playing live in ableton, one open the project file right (and not the rendered wav file of the track) or am i wrong?
If i am right, what about the mastering? i dont know too much about it yet but what i know is that the mastering you do in the wav file of the track...so...how the live will sound the same of the mastered track, if its the project file...do you load all the master plugins and its presets on the master channel? How it works?

He also provides the best explanation about compression that I've ever heard. |

xactly the way i go for things. just using few other plugs in my chain and adjust/compare each channel/track. so i dont adjust gain of all clips on the whole track as far i didnt adjust all the clips of each stem. so first i compare all the kicks i.e.
if thats set one can go for adjustin all clips together of one track if needed. if the set gots pretty much constant level, then i go for my chain, not before like shown here. keeps things for me some more easy....
the best sonic solution imo is to master each stem of each track. some more work which will pay out at the end. but needs quite more time and is not that flexible that i could throw in some new stuff of a track not finished into my liveset and work with it. even sounds could be recognized by the listener for sure. but in quality this would be the more advanced version
anyways, very cool guide and i like the idea of using too compressors. will give it a try ...
cheers

I use Renoise rewired into Live 7 (faster and the warp function is like, useful) to make loops. Ive got Renoise files for synth back, analogy stuff and sweeps, and percussion, all of which have an Ozone 4 on them so the recording in Live is already somewhat premastered, usually just some basic eq and harmonic excitation (<3 ozone 4 harmonic exciter ), so they sound a little more like my finished full tracks, which I have in their own channel with 3-band eq. Ive gone thru all the loops recorded so far and made sure theyre all around the same levels.
But im still in the beginning stages of putting the live together, tho, and things seem to change around with each session working on it.
I always put a limiter on the master with ceiling set to -.1, at the end of the master effects chain (i like to have neat little effects groups set to toggles, defaulting to 'off' on the master), just as a safety net.
Ill be checking that vid when Im on my home comp, Im always willing and eager to watch more nerdy geek DAW vids
