I was just going to google this, but I figured I would post it here incase other people were wondering. What do the numbers before or after a bass note mean (303, 909, etc)? No real reason for asking, Im just one of those people who wants to know everything about everything. Thanks!

the 303 and 909 are antiquated bass synths. the samples ur referring to were probably made on em.

google their history.

Yeah, does the number 303 or 909, etc designate a specific frequency or something? Maybe they don't mean anything other than giving a specific name to the tone...

I can always ask Robert Rich since he'll be at a party I'm going to next month and he designs synths           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Where are these bass notes coming from?

is it shown like F#303 .. or Saw303?

In either case it probably is indicating the source of the sample.

Roland put a series of synths and drum machines that have been widely used in electronic music. 101, 202, 303, 505,... 909, etc.

There is no 404 as 4 is an unlucky number in Japan.           AntiShanti/Sangoma

these number only mean, that the sound was sampled from these machines - nothing more and nothing less.           http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject

Ok cool. Yeah I was just curious to see if they had a specific meaning like other naming conventions do. Thanks for the replies people.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound
