tssssss..
'Intolerant to evolution' this is kind of a headline for something like that ...
in the end i would agree with Basilisk.
I did a break with a lot of experimental stuff and i would say the same as Basilisk..
No more difference was offered in the last decade, so keep quite !
music is evolving and i won't dance to the old stuff again and again ... sorry...

I am overwhelmed with good music. I can hardly keep up with it. If you aren't finding anything worth hearing... keep digging. I don't think there has ever been a period of time when we have had so many musical choices available to us!

Exactly. There's plenty of good stuff out there, but with the way most people are listening to music nowadays (downloading everything and such) you just have to wade through some crap to find a gem.
I usually find 1 track for every 5 albums I listen to that I want to play in a set. Regardless of the ratio, the music is there.

I think at some point you just need to stop trying to find something that blows you away like the music did in the first year you started listening to it.
It kind of reminds me of the first time I had indian food, having only had bland american food prior. While I will experience many great meals going forward, no meal can be as mind blowing as that first indian meal. Trying to compare every meal I eat to that experience really detracts from the joy of a new meal in the present. Music isn't like sex where your best ever orgasm might still sit in your future.
At some point once you have listened to enough music you just have to accept that some meals will taste better than others but you won't have your mind blown like when you were nieve of the experiences possible.
If you think things are getting worse in pyschedelic music, its probly just you getting older and having too high of expectations. |

that's not true, you rarely taste the true intricacy of truly good food the first time you try it, you only get more discerning as your taste evolves and you learn its flavors and intricacies. if you stop liking the food from your favorite restaurant it's not because your taste buds are changing, it's because the chef probably got lazy and started cashing in the n00b tourist market with bland, boring, recycled cuisine.

interest in the genre is often directly proportional to the quality of the music.

But quality of the music is subjective based on your own past experience with it and your current mood.

that may be true, but for some reason i have no qualms with older psytrance, most of the newer stuff just sounds very derivative to me, even the releases that everyone raves about. same progressions, same sounds, same structure as the stuff that was coming out 5 years ago.
