from what i gather,
there r those among us that actually use a different EQ for each note on bass line.

that is commitment to quality.

too much work for nothing..unless the bassline really need it..then it might be better to use use a other synth that dont need it.. easy to make things worst than better depending room acoustic too..really critical equing at some point need very good room ,otherwise it s like painting blind

+1
i dont see the reason to do this unless maybe you have some notes in different octaves and you have to cut lows and highs but again...           ...into the wild....

agree with posts above, even though the new "surfer EQ" might be good if you cut some frequencies (harmonics), since it has pitch detector and is totally automatic doing so. But this is pure speculation, since I never tried it myself XD...

I think of it like some sort of "keytracking" applied to EQ filters. Could be usefull, but honestly don't think it's needed like stated above.

How the hell do you even do it ? Are you seriously using automation to pull this off ? That is really amazing... really ... i wish more mixes were with automations like this. It really creates wonders. If it's needed then go for it. Automate your Eq Just don't do it on compressors and all will be fine           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

Well it's quite easy actually... I don't use it on bass but sometimes on leads (in the past). You just clone your vsti, cut certain notes from the midi on one channel and paste them in the other. Each identical vsti gets its own vst-efx-rack. It can be something creative too (don't need to be just eq). Try it for guitars for example. you can make nice dialogues between sounds who are close relatives but with a unique DNA.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

yeah, for the whole arrangement: one single midi note stretched the whole length then just place a 1/16 gate there and be done with, jeeez.... (just kidding here of course)

For people that actually like to play different notes on their basslines... sometimes this is essential to sample the bass.

there are many good reasons to do this.

for one the synth is not likely to output each note at the same volume.

and also sometimes the notes can extend past the release settings, therefore entering into the transient of the next note, or the kick.

also sounds really nice to EQ/saturate each note to the specific frequencies of that note

all of these are really good reasons to sample the bass and process each note individually

if you want a really nice sounding and clean bass you may wanna try           http://soundcloud.com/soospicey
