good Q.
when i started on the earlier versions of flp, i used 64 bar and doubled the bpm counter to double the original bpm (example 136 become 272) . i had to do that couse i needed the extra space between the bars.
not that the flp got the piano roll i didnt need this method and i worked on normal bpm and 32 bars.

i liked it 32, i think its a bit easier to build neat melody in 32 bars - not 64
but depends on taste of course
besides that, i guess 64 is more suitable for long-time bassline productions (like in minimal)

you can create basslines with 4 bar length as well heh..
anyways, im not making kicks and basses with bars.... reason's ReDrum is way better for bassdrum lines sequencing (not for minimal basslines though)
so i have 64 bars at drums pattern
and 32 at synth patterns (reason's matrix)
i usually dont use bars of the sequencer.. just for some unusual FX, pads..

when you have 64 bars, it means you'll have more same bars through all the track.. i think so
its seems harder to me to program 64 bars then 32.. dunno, try both and see how its more comphatible for you

i think most of the modern trance is built with 32 bars
what do you think?

i usually work with 32

but sometimes 16 has been just good enough. i doesn't matter that much IMO.

i have an 1600x1200 screen resolution so i can work with 64bars with no problem

and there are slight differences betwen the step sequencer and piano roll for those who are confused =]

usng 32 is too standart but its the best way to work with drums when u dont have the mood to sit much on your track..           ***dread controls***
