1. FL has the 'smart disable' function for every plugin that it is on your project. it disables any plugin 4 seconds after it is last used. so u only need time fx always enabled. and in FL7 this function is available for vsti too. so, what's freeze and offline processing ? (just kidding about the last question, i respect all DAWs)

2. i use acid since Acid 2 pro, along with Soundforge 4.5 (back then). the thing with Acid is that you assign to use your preferable external audio editor by one click (okay two clicks). Acid 6 is surely a smash.           extreme

ok, just to be annoying :
1) Cubase 4 also has this now - except it disables the plugins when they've stopped processing audio, not 4 seconds after they were last used - so it's both more efficient AND it won't cut off your reverb tails.

2) Acid is made by the same people who make Sound Forge so of course they will want to encourage you to use an external audio editor - it makes you buy two products Cubase VST had this too, but the audio editor in Cubase SX/Cubase 4 is easily good enough so that you don't need a separate audio editor program. Plus if you use the in-built editor you have full access to Cubase's undo facility.

annoying part 2:

1-fls automation is by far the easiest of all the apps ive so far(and im also many years cubase user)

2-fls piano roll is by far the fastest and easier to work in any app ive seen so far and it can also pan/pitch/filtercut/resonance in audio files something that cubase cant do !

Fl funboy? Me? naaahh.. no offence

using cubase 4 since the day of 4.0 release...had a major bug that just stopped being a bug for reason... so smooth sailing for us.
loving it.
i would recommend waiting for 4.11 for others to upgrade as there are several functions we dont use that i hear are still buggy.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

using C4 also for three weeks now...
some bugs, some crashes, but not many ones and in my opionion more stable than sx3...
...no side chaining implemented until now (an update should fix that)
...some nice new vst fx and instruments, which i think are quite good...
...possibillity to change insert fx routing
...

compatibility to Sx3 "try before buy":
possibel to open projects and hear them after re choosing the audio driver (before strange noises appeared)...
saving the project after editing is impossibel and edits also leads to crashes...
i would call it incompatibel but i think/ hope if you are using licensed sx3 (like we al do) everything would be fine...

pros& cons for daws are hard to discuss most depends on your own work flow cause most up-to-date sequencers are able to do mainly the same things but in different ways, if your are fast in cubase use it...
(i tried logic, pro tools and of course cubase)

Ah, the .0-versions are always buggy with Steinberg. I guess I wait for the .1-version to switch to Cubase 4. However, for professional musicians that go for PC it is the best software. (For Mac user it is Logic).

Sorry for the off topic question ...
but can anybody tell m if theres MIDI learn function in CUBASE 4 plz ??

I don't think any sequencer has for VSTs that don't natively support it. Not in the way you want it, anyway.

FLS has MIDI learn for any VST by choosing something like 'Midi Learn from last tweaked', so you just right click any knob on the VST and choose that, and then tweak a knob on your midi controller and it's mapped.

I use Cubase all the time now, but I miss that, and I also miss the FLS piano roll, I found it easier to work with for some reason.

Automation in FLS, no thank you... no never again. Cubase for me thanks.
