some guys could never release their music, they did their own labels and now are big names ... it s a lot about luck with big labels ,the quality of your music is far to be the only deciding factor.
to me it s seems logical to get in contact with them and not sending demo to random labels and ppl you dont know.
labels may ask you what music they want or to change things in your track , so it s really important to get in contact and know exaclty what they want so you can make it ,it s give more luck in your side to get released on that label.
if you want it serious you really have to take it serious , like a real work and sometimes it means you dont make only what you want. |

And what's wrong with that?
Maybe it's good enough to be on a party, but not good enough for a release, or not fitting enough for a specific release.
We do that all the time - of course we ask the artist's permission.

Fair enough i'm doing the same sometimes and the others do with my tracks, anyway it's good promo...

today they are fullon / prog / dark labels and even if they like your sounds but its not in their genre you have 0% to get released but you will get many "great stuff we love it but not release it"
(they release only copy/paste of some artist they really liked 4 years ago)
dumb world.. there isnt 1 thing i hate more that this stupid answer.. on the other hand it shows how idiots people are so im happy not to work with them

Again, being a record label this "great stuff we love it but not release it" is an answer I'm often giving to people. But that's not because I'm looking for specific type of music (well generally speaking I'm releasing goa) but simply because I do not want to release this specific track.
I've been an artist before and I know how it feels when you got something which is a bit different and then you get no from a label and you think for yourself "how can they refuse it? it's amazing!". Now that I'm on the other side (of the bad guys) I understand why. I mean, I wouldn't even release some of my own tracks, which are undoubtfully amazing (in my opinion that is).
How can you say that all they want is to release copy paste of 4 year old music? If that's the case then music would not evolve and stay the same. But it's not. Today's prog is different from last year's prog, and today's fullon is different from last year's fullon (even though we refuse to admit it). New music by innovative artists is getting released on labels, so how can you say it?
If a label refuses to take your track, instead of getting pissed just say "well thanks for listening, maybe next time" and that's it. Don't get too excited from it. And I'm saying this, both as an artist and as a label owner.

also some labels might keep your track and play it at party and never release it

If it is good enough to be played at party, it is good enough to be released imo.
Nice of you to have the decency to ask the artist, some others don't...
and that's the only thing wrong to me...

its because there r sooo many record labels, and sooo soo many "artists" these days, before, an artist used to summon up courage to send to a proper label, now they make 4 minutes and send, its not done right, and beacuse of all the demos being sent, the real musik or artist gets pushed aside, like the others, its hard to get noticed that way,i'd suggest to make a complete 8-9 track complete promo and burn and send cd to only 3-4 record labels which release the kindoff sound you make, which you think are good, dont send to every label, just because you want to "official" release,, if the music becomes ripe, or becomes good, then it shows or reflects in the sound and most importnatly, reflects on the inner self, some states of ecstacy(like wow, it comming out of me) , of awe of the beauty, happiness, it will make you happy, do it for that, and once you do that, then everything will happen by itself, the right people will come in touch with you automatically, some dj artist friend may play it, and some record label will hear it, and they will sign you automatic, they will come themselves, you just work on sound, forget rest, rest will come itself, when time is rite, when you r ripe! my 3 cents
peace n bom

Nah, don't send a cd.
Link to soundcloud or something. It's easier for us.

I run a label and this is the answer I give to some artists. I like some tracks but I don't feel they are suitable for the kind of sound I am trying to pursue. [sarcasm]Sorry for having my own opinion about how to run my label and not just releasing your music whenever you want it.[/sarcasm] Since you are such a unique and underrated musician and an obvious judge of talent where others fail to see it I recommend you start your own label and stop labelling others idiots just because they decided that your music was not suitable for their artistic direction, this way you might get some appreciation for what it takes to run a label yourself.
Sorry, think I was a bit harsh on you but honestly, as a lable owner I have my own idea of what music I want to release and if the track does not fit, then no matter how awesome it is I won't release it. Nothing against the artist personally, my label is my label and I created it to release my specific kind of sound. Some tracks are suitbale, some are not, and that's that.
