i thnk i see more psytrance advertising inside my computer than product advertising outside of it AND I LIVE IN THE USA our society and even government is based off of marketing these days.
please stop abusing your abilities to self promote.
If you make music solely for the love of it you dont need to self promote. if you desire recognition or money then promote away. id rather people find my music and hold a genuine interest for it rather than being coaxed to me with flashy cg graphics and monster truck annoucer style descriptions.
the music doesnt blast you into new dimensions you do it yourself while the music serves as a pleasant setting and reason for you to take yourself wherever it is that you need to go..
maybe im jsut unedudcated as to the benefits of bombing us constantly with the latest updates on your newest brain smashing single which has flashy movement and super sharp computer graphics.
psytrance spam, marketing, mass emails, etc. are all still the same thing if you take the word psytrance away from it. then what are you left with...
spam, marketing, mass emails, etc. and im pretty sure these have very little if any place in psychedelic culture. in fact the harmless word "MARKETING" is to me one of the worst problems with the modern world. Its the reason elections are popularity contests its the reason privately owned businesses have so much power its the reason we keep blindly perpetuating the money harvest...which to business is profit... but to us its taking giant time segments of our lives in which we chose to use to make money.
so really business through marketing manipulation is harvesting hours of your lives and giving you some disposable crap to show for it.
why do pystrance releases have such a short shelf life? its almost like they are more effective for profit if they are run of the mill, heavily promoted and viewed as obsolete as soon as next months new release list is in. the quicker something gets old the sooner you can buy the next thing.
anyway back to the topic..if your morals dont care about annoying/infecting people that are to you faceless nameless potential customers then maybe this will tickle one of your morals.

even though the posts insist that this is an exaggeration they dont say that we arent burning energy to do things that are pointless.
i know internet knowledge is flawed at best. however, there is truth somewhere in that.
my brain is filled with knowledge of artists i have no interest in that i cant forget easily because i opened a message only find it was actually just a commercial that someone snuck into my life before i could screen it.
id really like to hear from people that do this and find out why? is there any other purpose than to sell more cd's and release more cd's whcih you can then advertise and sell more of?
i dont know what the solution would be other than stop it, but i do know that abusive advertising in psychedelic culture makes me feel this ambiguous disgust when contemplated
marketing is a worldwide manipulation virus controlled by people who have selfish motives. this is not a paranoid conspiracy. even if you take a penny ad out in a local newspaper that has a funny slogan.. you are trying to use humor to get customers attention then use the fact that they found your wit momentarily interesting to coax them into spending their money on your product which we all know is in some way a ripoff otherwise it wouldnt be worth selling.
keep psychedelia pure and untainted. save the commercials for the REAL world...
so i help run a label and although we dont massively advertise im still having a dillemma with justifying the want to market anything.
anyone else care about this on either side?

i dont really watch tv. so that takes alot of the commercials out right there plus im on the internet alot for my job im sure the average american is exposed to more ads but maybe not the average non pop culture saturated american who also happens to get psytrance marketing sent to them hehe

i do everyday several times a day around the same time as the other thousands of people who get it. my concern is not so much hassling my smoothly flowing internet lifestyle its more about the way marketing is manipulative, and seems to make anything less authentic, and it places knowledge in your mind that you arent asking to have there. its designed to get you to stop what you aredoing or thinking and pay attention to what it has to say.

HAhaha. the part you edited is sooo true.
i now exactly how you feel.
i hate the fact that i can identify who the kardasians is by looking at a picture.
my wife enjoy to partake in celebrities lifes. and i can't shake it out of her. i have to suffer for it. very irritating to say the least.
just have to live with it.

something ive found to be particularly humorous as well (in a sad clown eating himself kind of way)..ourobozoros if you will..
as long as people remain bad magicians then they are likely to continue to fall for the cheap spell of 'currency'..
as for the promoters responsible for the mess..the Alger-humping optimist in me likes to think they started with bright eyes and big dreams.. and well..situations happen, emergencies happen, babies need fed..
if you look across the board at traditional indigenous beliefs systems, youll often find the ultimate punishment saved for the most evil of persons was banishment..to be cut off from the tribe was to lose that which made one whole..our culture, with its drive towards evolving the sense of self, has replaced that connective force of community with little green IOUs..
as far as your dilemma..just have to continue (as a big fan of the art produced by the label in question i stress, CONTINUE)to make art that, simply put, pushes a memetic understanding of natural cycles..something that encourages people to get out in the woods for several days practicing, at best, but most assuredly at least daydreaming about returning to tribal lifestyle..i think once you start to peel back the layers of individuality weve been collectively constructing around our dna the last thousand years or so, youll start to see that desire in everyone you meet from dirty hippie bumming a smoke to wallstreet exec (you chat lots of them im sure) outsourcing to cheap 3rd world labor..green peacenik save the whales al gore blahblahbla..
just keep training more eager souls in better magic; utilize our innate humanparasite powers for something positive..i think it really is just that easy..hard part is the whole patience thing..at risk of looking like a fool 50 years from now, i really believe that, not a return, but rather a new integration of traditional ideals is on the horizon..evidence is everywhere, if you cant see it then make some wait when did i transition from brownnosing you to ranting to the masses..

There are simple ways to deal with this. You don’t watch TV – bravo! – you’re already missing 80% of commercial crap most people see. And I am not even including commercial crap carefully embedded in shows themselves! What stops you from doing the same with your email? If you are getting all those promotions, it means you are subscribed to some newsletter(s) or mailing list(s). Identify the most obnoxious offenders and dump them, that’s all. And if it’s what people do on IsraTrance – who cares? As long as it’s done in the forums specifically designed for it (new tracks, promotional releases, “listen to my music” threads). Then you have a choice to peek into those places and fish something interesting or to not bother for now.

And what pisses me off even more is the fact that it's a completely fabricated celebrity. Does anybody know the reason why I see that stupid face every time I open Yahoo? Speaking about fabricated celebrities - do I need to know about Lohan's driving record?  |

haha you are soo right maine i dream daily of disappearing but then remember the same tools they are using for marketing are the ones i use to talk to my mother or receive a random message that unexpectedly brightens my day or say hi to a friend from a long time ago that i thought id never see again ive cultivated real love based relationships through email and social networking. so i go back to it just like the most of us and accept that its jsut the way the world is.
you could either cut off your own toe or treat the infection that is rotting it. unless there is no cure in which case amputatuion from society is the only option.

oh to replace the edited text sorta it was about how when you walk out to a hollywood star report newspaper every morning at first you jsut throw it out then you do it again no big deal but then when you find yourself unintentionally knowing a celebs new love interest or whatever than you realize you got that info placed into your head by the very thing you were throwing out while you were throwing it out.. in translation... if ive read the subject of an email or message its already a marketing success
