its to use on any kind of sequencer
for a fat kick..
in the insert channel of your kick use a eq and get rid of the freq that you dont want from 1k to 14k usualy
then use a comp with a ratio of 10-5/1 or more with not fast attack but fast release
then use an bass expander plugin to give more bass but beware not to distort it
then bounce it out as audio
import it again and compress it again this time with a small ratio (1/1-2/1 max)
and boost the make up gain (if needed)
finaly use a tube plug in to give it more warmth
it works on me

I do it almost the same way.

Sometimes i use a limiter and push the kick bit more, it get sometimes a nice sound.
