It's not hard. It's just hard getting used to. A DAW will always and forever be... a DAW.

I use Live 7 specifically cuz it uses a good deal less CPU and it does everything I need it to. The Renoise rewire's samples are all bounced so theres nothing on any of its channels. The Wendy Carlos rack is chained so that only one is active at any given time, and theyre almost entirely freeware and light on CPU.

Theres not much in teh way of channel effects either, and all the audio is bounced too.

Its taken a long time to get the setup streamlined, but its going well

@kabbalistic thats what they want you to think Actually I tend to think its pretty dummy-proof, which means you have to think like a dummy sometimes to understand

Now taht you mention it Im curious how much CPU it is running.

This machine is a dual-2.5 ghz with 3 gigs, not the screamingest, but the graphics enhancements and Win7 visual stupid crap is all turned off which helps, but mainly its Live 7 that lightens the load.

(which btw, if youre using Live for anything other than production, try downgrading just as an experiment to see if the most current version offers anything that previous versions don't, when I went back to 7 I found that it did everything I want)

Edit; So I just opened it up, hit the first scene start, and its running around 20% without Renoise according to Live's meter

I guess I just found something I could write a tutorial or at least a tip list on
          .

I was actually quite surprised by the results of our Poll, Ableton is the most used DAW by PsyTuts users. Closely followed by Cubase.

I find it easier than FL Studio to be honest. It's pure magic.           www.facebook.com/chemogen

I haven't tried FL, TBH I didn't like the UI.

I went from Reason to Cubase to Logic to back to Cubase.

Thanks for the sidechain tutorial C.

I really like Ableton the more I work with it, but Cubase is still my DAW of choice.           Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/themadpiper

If this compliment is for me then thank you very much!

Aciduss also writes really great in-depth tutorials, he must have the patience of a tree snake.
