Stratford Rex is big. It is the only club I have ever been where the sound was almost like being in a big festival.

Its probably worth saying that there are no strictly psy-trance clubs as such. Party organisers tend to hire out venues and throw parties there - so what may have psy trance night one night might very well have a R&B night the next!

I beleive that find a proper venue in London is a pain in the ****. Its quite difficult to make happy everybody everytime. We need to look for a place as close to the centre as possible, of course where you can smoke free and the security is not too hard, and where the sound sistem is cristal clear, high ceilings, clean, etc etc and as last but not least, affordable for our pockets. Personally I'm very happy with the Mayfair club in Vauxhall where I believe you can get most of the topics listed. At the moment in Fairy Tales, we are taking care of our major difficulty, the sound. At the last party we did an upgrade with two new subs at the corners of the dance floor but still there where too many highs. Next party in September we will have an another upgrade and hopefully this time will be spot on...
At the end our aim is to make our crowd happy and defenetely we want to keep all the nice and colorfoul girls always with us...

Due to being away too much of late i've only been able to make it too FT chapter 1 but the sound from suspended speakers was quality marchello, mayfair club was the cleanest i went to all year too 
Peeps have said to me the sound was not as good one of the other two parties but good luck with the upgrade, it's nice to have a party event where these things r being given the proper attention, rock on!!
EQ has a real tendancy to get way too hot and the Rex is a really good place to lose all ur friends...
Having said all that, thinking about it there are so many little places that pop up like karoo parties in obscure basements and some of the squat parties. Maybe 500 people tops but a strong psycedelic atmosphere can be found at such places and can be alot of fun!!
Can't remember any of the actual names of these places, too obscure but maybe that gives u a different perpective on the scene here slipnot.....check flyers for the relevant stuff... SNAFU.. |

maybe trance needs to go back to squat party places though not with six systems playing gabba but maybe two sytsems one psy trance other backroom/ambiant. the trick is to semi regulate who goes, not trying be snobbish or exclusive but just to keep thoughs bloody scallys out who smoke crack and and get lary when they should be in bed. i don't like stratford rex, there just isn't the right feel to the place, feel like cattle in pen and eq is abit....i dunno just not right, i guess i miss tyssen st, some of those nights changed my life.......a new and innovative way of partying shall dawn, one hopes....or come to leeds where gecko is held in the west indian centre, not a particually psy crowd but a happy one and a very good party... |

The West Indian Centre in Leeds is a great venue - been to a few Cabbage's there (Cosmosis & Analogue Pussy) & a few Riffraffs - never been to a Gecko - but always though Cabbage was like a school disco on acid!!

just noticed the post about the sound upgrade at the mayfair... great news... I am really looking forward to the next party!
what was the deal with the sound at the _first_ party (the one with dual head)....? It seemed to be better - was it a different system then?
I agree that if the sound at the mayfair was better again then it would be the holy grail of london clubs hehe:) and it is not too far out from the centre of london which is an added bonus...

Hi John, thanks for the support, I don't really know what to say about the sound for the first Fairy Tales, the sistem has been the same every time... maybe Dual Head are really great soundmakerz... but anyway we had only three Chapters, the second with Orion the sound seemed to be quite terrible and at the last one with Atomic Pulse we added two brand new bass speakers at the corners opposite the stage, still it wasn't perfect. For the next one we called Soundman to do the upgrade in the main stage and the sound sistem for the chill out. Lets hope in good...

hey there li yun,
the squats r happennin in london pretty much nearly every week, and just as you said - one room psy the other ambient.
theres some great people working on the door who do a great job keep out the crackeads, the vibe is really good......the partys last as long as peeps r up for it, noone kicks u out, quality sound, cheap beer, smoke spliffs whenever u want!!
ok... the buildings may be a little dirty, toilets are a bit grim, but that is true of quite alot of liscensed venues too eh?
i like going to clubs too, the mayfair has a really uplifting vibe.....but the freedom of squat parties is really special - its anyones party!!!
