Today psytrance problem is i wait for 3,4,5 minutes and more - in every track - before listen to a melody. Every track is first minutes minimal and after several minutes is full on.
I'm looking for a music wich every track start melodic and several melodies happen from begin to end.
This is the motive i like old school, my best cd are Logic Bomb - Headware and Distortion Orchestra - The Shape of things to come and old stuff from Nephilim and Dragonfly.
This year i like Infected Mushroom, Talamasca, Tranceform Records. I'm waiting for Man With No Name album.
If this year are cd for my taste (from small or famous labels) please advice me!

well, u have to wait huh ?
guess u r talking about the composition of the track...and thats the artist's way to express his inspiration.

artists are probably satisfied from that compostion...maybe, they just want to let u flow into the beat and become used to the sound...then let u hear some twisted stuff and melodies.

thats the point.           ..:: Let the MUSIC guide u in a world of COLOR ::..

I'd have to agree with Midnight-Tales

Personally I live for melodies, I'm finding 90% of modern psy is soooo boring for me compared to the classic goa that got me hooked on it in the first place (cosmosis, hallucinogen, green nuns, etc), because its just a bunch of weird noises (NB- I know some people love this style, I mean no disrespect, its just not my taste).

However when I make tunes I still very rarely kick off full-on and melodic from the start, but usually start quite minimal and atmospheric... like Midnight said it just seems a better way to ease the listener in gradually.

Also it seems like a better structure for the sake of the DJ, gives them a chance to mix the record across, with the last tune still playing, before anything too busy and complex comes in.           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

Just to clear things up:

Melodic doesn't mean it's full-on
Melodic means music and musical ideas.

can be atmospheric, epic, minimal even.

I'm still with Alectrance on this one.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Have you tried some old stuff from 94-96, especially the compilations ?

In any case, beware of the musical formulas, that's what killed Goa Trance 6 years ago when a bunch of bandwaggon jumpers started chain-producing melodic Indian-like stuff.

I agree with DETOX psy trance is not just melodies. Melodies are good but depends on your mood. I feel that what seperates psy trance from most of the other stuff out there is that it is not consistent. Just when you think you know where a track is going it changes in a completely different direction. psy tweaks and strange sounds in just the right place in the track can cause a sane man to go insane and an insane one to appreciate his insanity. So next time you listen to a track why not try to find your own melody in the confusion that is psy?

Jeff: Well, nowadays some producers make Goa for fun, and they make it sound just like it did several years ago just for the fun of it. Many people miss the good'ol touch and they know that it ain't gonna get released probably, but still it gives nice variation.
Anyhow you are right, Goa became to predictable and too cheesy, by the fact it all sounded so alike and just a few indian touches and you had a goa tune, yup you're right.

hmmm......it's always a matter of taste isen't it ???.....and nowadays its very easy to produce a track on a PC, with easy handable software....and the most famous music in my area is the progressive sound with a basslien and some effects......very boring to me, but most of the crowd here like it.......and tehn there are musicians, like ....... Digital Talk....no melodies....just noise !...but damn kicks rockin' ass !!!!!..........others with too much melodies......and so on........man it's music.....its not to belong to a style...it's creating his own trip.....not everybody likes spinach........

I would say choose that what I like, not look for a genre to think I am in....

just my opinion....:;))
I just came out, cause it seems there was a noise outside ! .... added to Parvati Records rooster .. check webside !!!
