i wanted to hear how people see the scene in japan.

As for me, this year i think will be another full on year in japan. Maybe with Proggresive trance on a slow comeback. But i dont see much of a change. Im sorry to say but i cant really see anything exciting going on in japan these days(i have to admit i am spoiled, all these good parties and not one gets me excited enough to go).
I wish they had new venues, something fresh, like a nice beach rave for the spring or summer.
Anyways the only diffrence this year is the Police. Police will be going into parties more than ever, with all the rumors of drug parties going on in the news, and now they are even doing random checks at CUBE 326(I warn all who go there not to carry drugs, because they do random body searches if you are near the club, still a good club though).

How do you think the japanese scene is? good or bad? something to fix? etc....

I think the scene in Japan changes greatly once you get out of the major urban centers. I know up in the Tohoku area they still throw small secretive parties up in the mountains and tend to carry on like it was still 1995 (with the exception of the music). From what I hear from most of my friends the area between Osaka to Tokyo is basically a big commericial wasteland, but north or south of those areas, the scene is actually still rather nice and cozy.           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

Well Hikari, I know very well the scene in the Tokai area. I returned to Japan after 3 years in Brazil - where the scene is strong, but strange. Too much drugs, all Djs playing the same skazi tracks... - well, returning to Nagoya I was sort of surprised to see that the scene here is almost dead. No parties around, and you barely see a psy CD to be sold in CD stores. It seems that the people behind the scene is not caring anymore about the scene itself. And some friends of mine told me that the sound is so soul-less that they would rather go to a techno party, because there's no more happiness in the dance floor as it used to. I expect to see great parties in Japan, but surely I am one who won't pay ichi-man-yen to a mainstream festival featuring boring trance. And secretly I hope that japanese party producers may bring fresh people who are trying to push the psy boundaries a little further.

Peace and Love

hey hikari, about u being spoiled, i must agree wwwwwwww j/k

anyways i think that there is a huge issue within one`s self. We all have changed since the days we found this scene. i guess we all lose that first magic we encounter initially. I used to love the chaos of a psytrance event, but these days i can hardly get up from home, ride the train, and spend the night out at a event. i see parties differently than i used to, and that has made me stay away from many parties that would have attracted me in the past.

As for the scene in general, it is biggger than ever and producing money. let`s face it, psytrance is growing everyday in tokyo with more and more listeners resulting from parties. i don`t know what this will lead to, but their are many negative circumstances that surrounds this issue. parties being shut down and as hikari has mentioned, the cops are already tracking down random people going to parties. who knows, in a couple of years we might have a law that would prohibit raves or psytrance parties............
concering the sound, full on is defenitely the "shiiiit" here in japan. although my taste has shifted completely to prog these days.

saigoni, i just hope that eveyone will enjoy and try to make this scene nice and clean. Rave season is coming and i hope everyone the best of luck and keep partying!!!!

hmm it is like an old movie you have seen once before and seeing it again now, but in the result less excitement even you loved that movie. That movie never changes but you have changed. All the enviroment and society is changing every seconds either good way or bad way which something we can not stop. so we only can go forward with a lot of obstacles facing right ahead.

party is not an event/concert, I still believe myself it is once-in-a-life experience. so it is sometimes hard to find something interesting once you have experienced nuf hehe

well one good solution is that someone stands up and to be a candidate for the next election, we vote him and legalize everthing !

Anyone?

all i can say is what i plan to do for the scene this year. as usual, i will do just one outdoor party and try to make it different from all the others.

i think the talent in the trance scene is not as strong as it used to be. that is the bad news. but the good news is that there is some incredible talent in many scenes that are very close to the psy vibe, like deep progressive house and dark ambient and some very sick breaks music. so for this year's labyrinth, i want to take a risk and invite some dj's and musicians who most people in Japan have never heard of, but who will blow you away with their deep sounds. there will be trance of course, but it will be presented in a more serious way, and with more variety, from the darkest, slowest dance music around to uplifting blissful tunes for the girls! most importantly, this year's music will be planned as a one long 3-day ritual, with all of the dj's working together and each dj showcasing a certain sound. instead of playing for the crowd, which too many trance dj's do, i am inviting the dj's to play more personal sets that have deeper meaning for them.

i have become more mature over the years and can't handle the "young full-on vibe" so i will only bring music that will excite me and stimulate my mind and emotions. i hope it will excite you too. but i promise you you've never heard anything like it.

forget about scenes. focus on the sound.

Sounds nice russ. Yes your party is very rare in the psytrance scene today. I think it is the only outdoor event in the world with the lineup you bring. I like the spirit and the way you have brought color to this scene. Good luck with Labyrinth this year.
Shed, I say we just put EL-5 up for election. hehehe...
Taku, lets try our best to clean this scene up.

Well for you full on lovers, My label will be bringing as much new sound to the scene as possible this year. We will be working with Neurobiotic, Alchemy Records, and AP records.
Artists that we plan to bring this year, Domestic, Pixel, Analog Pussy, Psyside, Rinkadink, Manibus.
Some we have brought already this year, Polaris, Tikal, Star X.
Well its a full on year, cant help it, sorry guys. But in the full on scene i hope to bring new sounds to japan. I just hope that the people out there, are looking for new sounds, which i dont think they are...

Corrently I'm living in LA...I usually have chances to party in Japan once a year...mostly summer season. When I was in Japan(3-4years ago) the scene was the greatest....I haven't gone to parties in Tokyo long time, but I'm able to know the scene there.....sadness.....no, no! I didn't make this post to put any negativity.....I know the scene in my city Fukuoka is still keeping good vibe.
Tell me what you listen, and I'll tell you what you are.
