Its fun, and its not as hard or awkward as it may seem. We started out just making random 8 bar loops of various elements, using Ableton to arrange it all since we all used different DAWs, also makes it easier using vsti's, not everyone has the same ones, and theres nothing creativity-killing like having to go search the internet.
See where it takes you, I would offer to join, but it looks like you got plenty already
