i've read some parts of this conversation and would like to participate saying some labels/psytrance artist groups that for me are innovating and redoing psytrance under new perspectives:
1) zenon records - the aussie technical/minimal progressive trance is soooo psychedelic, and always brings new sonorities to psytrance. always a surprise.
2) following this we have 2 labels that focus on really psychedelic progressive, but with more madness and confusion. not necessarily dark: Cosmic Conspiracy and Electric Power Pole
3) there's the finnish suomisaundi, and some australian projects that follows this chaotic line of music. here's a topic discussing about it: http://forum.isratrance.com/some-thoughts-about-suomipsy-vs-oziepsy/
4) on fullon side, i do believe that the most modern sounds come from labels like nano records and vagalume. more serious fullon, really hypnotic and psychedelic music.
5) night psychedelic is always evolving too, and today i feel that the most modern music comes from labels like Parvati, Sanaton (that mixes this dark forest vibes with suomi elements).
