Psytrance is evolving as we speak. Every form of music that evolves lives long ...like rock for instance, wouldn't have survived if not for the innovation.
Psytrance is evolving at a really fast rate. There is too much happening in different parts of the world for it to be anywhere close to death. long live psytrance. =)

"This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of ev'rything that stands
The end..

..Ride the snake
Ride the snake
To the lake
To the lake

The ancient lake baby
The snake is long
Seven miles
Ride the snake

He's old
And his skin is cold"

The driving force in psychedelic music was here loooong before we were, and will remain here to shift people's awareness loooong after we have moved on again.           www.myspace.com/gaiana_25

I think the genre its in a dark age, almost everything sounds alike, the same... it's just like techno i few years ago, everyone said it was dead and now they recreated the style and live a gold age again...i think it's the same with psy trance and its strands

O RLY?

I thought "neo-fullon" was the so awaited psy gold age. XD

I've been doing sum research and all i can tell about so called "neo-fullon" is the use of stereo basslines that sound like all made with alien303 but everything just sounds the same to me.

I was thinking about exactly that this morning... what does psytrance need in order to be refreshen, revitalized, reglorified???

How to innovate? I know there is no easy answer for this and i am not really asking that question to absorb ur ideas... im just throwing it to the air so we think about this.

How to keep the psy sound while obtaining fresh results... i have my own ideas about this kindastuff: I believe there is not really a boundry between genres and psy should expand to other territories and just mixing its psychedelic vibes with other sounds like the ones from the techno beats, for example:

I just saw Onen from x-noiZe last sunday playing some really good tunes on psy BPMs sounding all techno, you know that creative delay use and many flavored percussion all syncopated... it had a really nice effect on the dance floor.

I would bring elements from dnb, idm, ambient, french elektro, etc... to psy and not just to combine the sounds but to create something unique on the way... i have also thought about always using one or two really creative / soundwise audio elements in my tracks, something that make the sound fucking unique... then i would add the very characterstic 303 psy sound or a stab or just something that keeps it near the familiar sounds for the average psy listener.

I've had tons of inspiration listening to Loud ( http://www.myspace.com/loudkobireiter ) those are very cool ideas on psy beats that really trip ur mind.

I would love to read some suggestions on psychedelic trance projects that are really making something different and pro positive.

The thing with the average psytrance track is that is has become very predictable even for the intoxicated mind... people need to be surprised and really blasted with different kind of atmospheres; WE NEED NEW ROLLERCOASTERS.

Well enough talk... if you have read thanks and have the time to comment my ideas or go back to have same canned arpeggiated melodic lines and the same vengeance libraries used over and over mixed over terence mckenna samples or worst: some pop vocals in Japanese, now enjoy your cheese.

mate i don´t want to be unpolite, but just go ahead and do what you feel, you won´t change a music by talking about "fancy" ideas..
there are already so many great artists out there combining styles and changing psy and pushing the boundaries... just look beyond the tons of cds that sound alike..
you could be late if you keep on thinking too much..

for me music does not have to be futuristic, fancy or an evolvement in style, it has to come from the heart. good old psy made with heart is as wanted as progressive minimal if it comes from the heart..

in the end its all about emotions and what touches me and drives me nuts on the dance floor is right, right?

I'm not trying to change music talking about it, i want to have some conversation and then when im at the studio maybe have this in mind.

I'm asking for guidance on this subject bro, which cds sound different to you? who's pushing its boundaries?

I'm not sure about all the emotions stuff when we produce computer music, i mean of course i follow my heart and try to put all what i feel on a track and that's what has been done from Mozart to Michael Jackson dude... but style and technique evolve and make a genre stand on its own when brilliance tricks are combined with emotional music so maybe FOR YOU computer music doesn't have to be futuristic, fancy or evolutionary, but for me it does, even emotions evolve.

I just think about this when i'm at work, thinking too much doesn't really worry me.

I dun want to be impolite either but you write like if there wasn't anything to say about the subject and i believe that's completely mediocre... of course, tell the boy: "just follow your heart dude" and forget the thread.

Sorry but i'm interested in evolution of sound and music and it's production techniques, specially psytrance and of course: neo-fullon! XD

Thinking of music as a vehicle for your emotions to flow is not something new and of course that's something obviously included in the equation, we are talking about the same recipes to evoque the same emotions over and over.

No wonder why IT is dying, people producing are not concerned about evolving, or sounding fancier or heading to the future; just add another arp 303; KILLARG!

So well its almost time for me to go imprint some innovative ideas into teh sequencer, hope to read wiser comments next time i log in.

sorry that i have not met your standards with my comment.

i am in deed a lil tired of people writing that psy is dead. thats bullshit. go ahead and keep it alive. maybe its in a crisis with its actual trends for your taste... i have the same problem

you search for good psy? check out vibrasphere, ticon, anahata, atmos, ace ventura, andromeda, voice of cod, atma, liquid soul, disco hooligans, younger brother, asura, aes dana, solar fields.. maybe you do not like that, but i think there is a bunch of quality trance out there.. some of it repeating well known formulas, some of them pushing the boundaries..

i totally agree about that the scene nowadays tends to hear repetitive music for simple hardcore chaos loving minds.. i do not like this evolvement myself. but i know it will change throughout time cause change is the only constant.. and you can be part of it.

personally i feel talking about how to change a style is somewhat unromantic, just do it and make it work.. thats why i say: do it - don´t talk.

but hey, really i do not want to fight, it was just my 0.02$

i would always prefer a a nice up to date trance tune like the disco hooligans present which is close to what logic bomb did several years ago. for me it is timeless and does not need to do something else just to be modern. it simply rocks. on the other hand i do fancy bands that change things like atmos or vibrasphere. but no need for pressure. just quality.

peace
Gaiana

I'd probably tell him more of that corny yet somehow resonating thruthfully stuff like:

Pushing the boundries? I'd rather say, first find the centre, the source.

Change just for the sake of change is quite empty if you look at it properly, since it is bound to the place in time it changes in, so it gets left behind by the moments yet to come.

Just follow the path of your heart, the road it takes is always new and always changing into every new moment that arises, so you grow into new moments as they come, becoming timeless.           www.myspace.com/gaiana_25
