My 2 cents worth of an answer:
1) psytrance music is generally available for free download or streaming listening online.
2) majority of people aren't so interested in what flavor of the month artist or DJ is playing as much as they are the psytrance party itself. Those that recognize the big names will come because they know what to expect (a psytrance party).
For the other phenomenon which Suloo observed, isratrance is a place where you can pose such a question and it will be there, visible for responses for as long as the topic is active (as opposed to fb where it gets buried and lost in the constant stream of newsfeed). So I believe Xolvexs comes back here for the love, clearly.

Because a, people can get it for free, b most of the few peeps that actually manage to make a living with PSy are very reluctant to let new people into their ranks, because they fear that that would make them obsolete, c, because many of the so called PSy stars have no new ideas whatsoever ( see Gataka as a prime example)
And d, because PSy people in general don't market their sound very well, and e because of a sucker called Psy Nina aka Shitali...
Can't wait to hear critiques on this post... I just love a good bit of cynical controversy I guess...

Because NOW every guy can make a tune on his pc and release it on his own or his friends net label and see it on Beatport or any other site that sells digital music.
Before 10-15 years that was impossible to do so the music had to be send to REAL LABELS where it would be filtered out and would be properly released on a physical media which could take actually a long time (like a year maybe) since a release back then was a serious thing and money and time had to be invested.

get over it man, its not gonna make you happy to keep repeating the golden times are over.
and yes, there is still loads of people that make it for the love of it. as you said anybody can be a producer now, there is no scene today with an absurd amount of bullshit produced, psy is not special in this.
its life, internet, software and the growing masses out there made the market anarchic.that is good and bad at the same time.. but you know, there is so much good stuff out there (and will ever be), even for free, its just harder to find but thats your part now...

I agree with this and I even feel that these days, a midst the mass of mediocre music out there, with the really good, special stuff harder to find, it's kind of like it's gone underground again.
You have to dig for it, like in the old days, and when you find it, find an artist making music that resonates with you, you feel connected in that special way and it feels secret and known only to you and maybe a few others.
So let a million releases come every year, afaik. it only makes the good ones that more special to find.

There is one fact that differentiates psytrance from other edm genres: there is no place for dj's, and dj's are the ones who buy more music. Live acts rock this scene.
Yes, sure there is some dj's here and there, but it's nothing compared to the other genres, Other cause for this is that since psy isn't played at clubs there is little room for more dj's-

too much music kill the music. making it harder to find... music have a short life.. it s like a product you use a few time and throw into the bin today.
exploded with sub genres don t help,what one think sux is great to someone else..we all like psytrance but that mean nothing today |
