Well, you can get a typical full on bassline sound out of allot of vst's. It's just a matter of knowing out to make a bass sound out of the vst... (and for doing this you have Mike A's essencial tutorial, or any bassline tutorial from this forum).
My mates and I managed to get this sound out of:
Audiorealism, Tau (1 & 2), VB, Vanguard, V-Station, Scorpion, Junglist, and Albino, just to name a few...
The real question is how to get a non-typical full on bassline sound...

I have a huge plastic rubbish-bin which I fill with water. Then I go to the beach and try and find big stones that have been washed smooth and round by the sea. I look for stones that are between the size of my fist and the size of my head, and as spherical as possible. When I've found them I take them home and record the sound they make when you drop them in the bin full of water, from various heights. You get different pitches this way. I edit the recordings and EQ and compress each sound so that the levels are even, and import them into Kontakt where I adjust the envelopes to make sure each one has the same 'kick' at the beginning. I also tune each sample carefully so that they are in a scale.
Then I load up VB-1 and make a 'dugga-dugga' bassline and copy it through the whole song.

lol
but I really like the idea with the stone.
Unfortunatly, there is no beach near my home, so maybe i'll try this with some smaller stones in my bathroom, or better dropping rice-corns into my toilet. |

a great bass is simple to make Gome
etc. on a virus b, use saw and sine oscilators, and lowpass filter.. turn the filter down, and crank up the filter envelope... and you get a realy nice bouncy bass..
mess around with it, filter, distortion and envelopes..
you can make this on every new (soft)synthesizer
i woud use Albino if you dont have a hardware synthesizer..
good luck with it..
