Sometimes I think it could be a great idea to open up a 100% digital shop and sell those tunes at a cheap price. But then I get back to reality and remember no one buy the music. www.beatagency.dk |

*No one buys the music
* - not enough people buy the music to support the artists so that they don't need another job that is not making music.
It should be pretty clear to anyone who doesn't have their head stuck in the sand that the days of producing albums and being able to live off of (or make ANY money off of) album sales are long gone...unless you're a big established name, and even then it's not enough
You need to get gigs and tour to support yourself as a psy artist, and if you put your shit behind a paywall you are reducing your exposure. Doesn't it make sense then to try to get your music into as many hands as possible so that you would have a higher possibility of someone liking your stuff enough that they would book you?

A bit off-topic mate
But my own experience is if you do not produce the "right" kind of music and is not released on the "right" label you wont land many bookings - if any - these days. Especially not if you give away your music for free even though you have 10.000's of followers.
Of course this is based on my own experience as I wont speak for other artists. www.beatagency.dk |

Interesting. Can anyone tell me what the actual downloaded files look like in terms of naming and tagging conventions?

Yeah, sorry for the blatant offtopic
The free music-leading-to-gigs thing seems to have worked for some people. Ekoplex from Ekto seems to be touring pretty extensively, and IIRC Disco Hooligans is starting to get bigger bookings...
I'm sure there are more examples but those are the only ones that come to mind right now. If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
