Psyscene in Chicago?

Hey,
Im from Mumbai and will be attending undergrad in Northwestern uni which is in Evanston , 20 mins from Chicago. Is there any scene there cause it would be hard to imagine life without psy. Does anyone on this board stay there etc.? |

Chilluminati are organising an outdoor event near Urbana, IL on the 1st of Aug and another 3 day festival in November.
The Midwest psy scene is very much alive. Chicago as a weekly psy/downtempo gig as well as a few international acts playing at the clubs. It's much more musically diverse than the psy-scene in Mumbai but if you come here with an open mind theres a LOT to experience.

Timing is a bit off there ..
July 1st near Urbana, and Oct 8 weekend we have another 3 day festival in Black River Falls, WI. However, things are looking that within a 5 hr drive of Chicago you can hit a party at least every other weekend this summer.
Hope to see you soon at one.

That's like a whole year ago, lots can happen in a year with effort from good people
This year it is REALLY taking off though, insane amount of events. At least 2 new psy promoters getting in the mix. Regulars stepping things up. Old people getting back into throwing events (ok that's just me  ).
Last year I had a lot of good times though! I went to 12 festivals, I think half were in the midwest (a couple of those were EDM events too )?
There were lots of club events in Chicago if that is your thing. I heard they were great, but its hard to get me to clubs
Also, there have been many house gatherings where small groups get together with DJs or just CDs and have psy parties..of course those are a little more selective, have to see how ya dance first
You have to realize though the midwest is a bit different, lots of people of all types attend events - it's not just one subtype of psytrance only (although there are many that are damn close including me ). If you have an open mind and heart you will love it here, wonderful energy and I have been around to many places so have a good idea what it is like in other parties of the country. Midwest has something special for sure.

oh and btw, Chilluminati are doing a 4 day event called Sacred Earth memorial day weekend. I am doing a 3-day next weekend. The boys down in Arkansas are doing one May 20th.
We had 2 psy one-nighters already (one that had 350 people!), 2 clubs, 1 psy and ambient, 3 giant house parties so far this year! Can you say welcome psy consciousness? Time to get the middle up there! |

it barely existed a year ago.. really been kicking up, though from what i've seen.  i always thought chicago had a lot of potential, and combined with other midwestern cities, it might just be unstoppable.
