I was a bit pissed when i wrote the above and I think what I meant to say is I am disillusioned. So much talent and great ideas that ultimately, to my ears anyway, have come to sod all.
People's actions.....Ketamine...acid..all contributed I think to destroying what I used to love - in the UK at any rate.

mate, you're not the only one... i think we are right to be disillusioned in some ways, but i think a lot of it has to do with age. you only carry on doing the same thing for ever if you are the rolling stones and earning millions from what you do, or if you become institutionalised by what you do and lose sight of the "real world".
hope fully see ya soon, and then maybe we can have a good old bitch about the state of things in person

Its a shame, psyreviews helped me to build taste for psytrance music.
He was a light in a scene full of crap, and its specially bad for newcomers that wont find as good reviews as his on the web.
Its like loosing a great master.

Shame he took down his old reviews - he was definitely one of the funniest characters on the psychedelic trance scene, and one who was clearly honest and cut to the bone in every review he made. He deserves a lot of credit for that, even though our tastes differed on several releases.
That being said, him stopping making reviews isn't the end of the psychedelic trance scene. Yes, there is a lot of shit being released - just like 2, 5 and even 10 years ago. You have to dig a bit deeper to find the gems, but they're certainly still out there, and they will keep getting released for as long as there are artists dedicated to making good music.
Damion himself even wrote very uplifting reviews for Scorb, Ace Ventura and a bunch of more underground releases in later months, so why he decided to pull the plug for good I don't know. Maybe it's some kind of publicity stunt?

A shame indeed, yet quite understandable.
I wrote to Damion offering to host the website in archive form on our servers, hope he'll agree.
I can totally understand all the disillusioned. However, I do recommend you to explore the world of techno, where good psychedelic dance music still exists (just say if you want some pointers). Also the new Loud album coming later this month is the real thing

I think he should be honest and just admit he doesn't want to do the site anymore... I mean the last 3 or 4 reviews were all really positive. There are still plenty of amazing releases all the time.. |

no comment,
his own choice,
but indeed why not keep his old reviews online...
reviewers come and go...
that's life, we should call it evolution

Get over it
Damion now lives the nice Australian life
His British humour has passed away and he has a new life now
Thanks Damion for the laughs.
All the best mate and chuck a shrimp on the barby for me
Hopefully see you at BOOM
And lets be honest guys and girls - psytrance RIP indeed
Rumour has it that BOOM is gonna be dubstep - cool following the fact there were far too many lost it projects trapsing about in the dark being violent due to mental music - lets see how true this is |
