Psynews: please reliable information

I noticed the site was down and asked on the Links section ( http://forum.isratrance.com/does-anyone-know-what-s-going-on-with-psynews/page2/ ), hoping it was only a minor problem. Got this reply:

The date mentioned is the first day I noticed that it was down.
Is this the end of Psynews? Bad news whatever happens in the future!

I always considered Psynews to be the brother site of Isratrance, so I want official information about this very sad event, and still hope it is not definitive. I also want to express my full support to the psynews team, in whatever direction they decide to take.
Please add reliable info in a constructive way. Thanks.

I wasn't registered on Psynews, have they sent any information out to people who were? I don't know if it's true, I am just reporting what I found.
My Google search also gave this page:

This page seems to be the reason for Google returning it (in a search for "Psynews down") because "PsyNews Down., If you register here. Bare in mind it has to be validated by an admin." was the forum topic headline.
I really hope it's not true, or that they have a change of heart when they get over the shock of being hacked.

Well not being funny, but Nemo was always a crap admin there - I have had several chats with Mars and other mods there in the past and all agreed that the off-topic section was pointless...
Only the other day they were asking for new mods...
It's down to Nemo being a paranoid idiot thinking that people want to hack him cos he thinks he's so COOOOL
Many of us have been accused of hacking there in the past just cos we fell out with Nemo - ffs - I coudn't hack into a tomato atm!!!
Put it down to burnt out nobs (aka Nemo) who was never fit to admin that site in the first place.
What happens to all the reviews and GOOD info that was posted there? Or is this just about Nemo having another hissy fit over the off topic and his own (look at me) forum???
It's a crying shame, but it was forthcoming - everyone could see Nemo was not really in control after some of the stickies he posted calling people wankers for no reason - if a bot attacks an IPB site - it's an IPB error, not an ex user being nasty.
Lets just hope Mars can revive the site, or at least put it on archive
btw - WHY did all the mods leave in the first place? Nemo? |

Please Penelope, posts like yours are hardly constructive. Leave the personal problems aside, please.
I'm as concerned as everyone else with the site and forum (all the reviews and GOOD info), so let's focus on this. Thanks for understanding.

PsyNews was hacked on the 21st of October at Server level. It will come back very soon though, just working out the final bits. At first it looked like the Hacker/s would have deleted everything but data was still there.
Not only did the Psynews server suffer from this though, but also Suntrip, Filteria and Psysurfeur.
I think it is kind of childish to hack a site just cause you have a grudge against its mods, admins and owner. But then again, some people do not have a life, and it is understandable that they do stupid shit like that.
If I was ever to be banned on a forum (I might be here) I would never ever come back and try my way back with force or with faked identities. NOT WELCOME MEANS NOT WELCOME!"

Not getting in to my personal story with the site too much I can say that despite being very inactive for quite some time I suddenly was banned for life there and I never actually got an explanation why.
Yes I was arguing in some topics and could have been out of line some times, but I found it a bit odd if I was banned for something I said many months ago and that when asking who banned me and why neither mods or admin could answer that.
So I can't say that the site being hacked again would come as much of a surprise considering how the place have been run.
Anyway...hope they get the stuff back online...it would be a shame if those many years of content would be lost.

Psynews was the best.. But before it got moderated.... So funny and crazy forum back in the day...
The memory lives on !!! I dropped out of the page some time ago, it was not the crazy site anymore and users got banned etc etc...
But for me great stuff, will always remember some of it

Psynews WAS a good forum years ago, like about 8 years ago, but it became a pretty poor affair over the last few years and it really has shown how some can develop extremely deep paranoid delusions and become a kinda power trip.
Not pointing the finger at anyone in particular on their, but banning people, paying out on certain music styles or people who like this style (including well repsected label owners) is just very childish.
Isratrance is really nice as the mods are fair, they do things gently in the background, and they take certina things into consideration before banning people.
The overly agressive attitude of most at psynews just creates endless tension and results in person doing things like hacking into the server.

I don't think that this is the first time it gets hacked.
I am sorry for the members and moderators who lost the forum, but honestly, I never thought that it was great forum. I think that it actually caused more trouble than anything else. It was a great reference for goa music, and older tracks, but the offtopic section was like a cheap circus. I did meet some cool friends there that I keep in touch with, but i disactivated my account years ago!
And it doesn't surprise me that some frustrated dude from the offtopic section just lost it, and killed the forum. |
