See, that youtube clip of his - not bad (lol@yoda sample). The main problem I have with his sets is the glitchy/broken up nature of them in tandem with ear damaging noise- which I am sure is one of the aspects of his act that some people really enjoy.

There aren't excessively overdone cheesy pitched kick rolls or abuse of glitching across the entire track, its got a nice flow to it, the sounds evolve and twist at you, not just punch you in the face/eardrum then vanish forever.

There is a *very* fine line with Twilight/Dark/Neuro-whatever-the-fuck that a lot of artists cross where you're just damaging people with noise. A big fuck you to all producers who think its psychedelic and fun to belt out extremely high frequencies with high resonance just because you can - like those insanely high siren noises with tons of flange on it ripping through your nervous system. It is not fun, it does not help me achieve some inner trance-formative experience, its just fucking loud noise thats damaging my ears.

Srsly, when I saw this guy inside on a Funktion One system, I could not stand it for more than 30 minutes at a time *standing away from the speakers* because he was abusing the high frequencies.

Obviously, he is a very talented producer and DJ, and I respect his technical skills and really enjoy some of his tracks, like the one posted above. However, I think he goes to excess for excess's sake at times, and its not my thing.

To each their own, but please, don't damage your audience.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

I also don't care for the clip playing in the OP's video, but like I said, it's an experience seeing him, some like it, some don't, same with every other artist.

I got some older tracks of him. They are a good variety to other styles. I won't leisten to one style all the time anyways. You always learn something from someone, somewhere

He got this style of breakaway-from-norm attitude, which I appreciate. You should not listen to it in a bad system, or too loud, though.

He is good man.           https://soundcloud.com/jaadoo

wishful sinful and lastbus madrus (that one's pure genius) are actually darkpsy tracks i like (wich is a rare thing), but the video in the first track to me has nothing to do with psytrance. i see that as freetekno without the huge kick and funny mood (which makes freetekno so appealing if you're in the right mindset) but with some added noise.

^^^ He plays a range of music from high 140s to 200 or so bpm in his set. Something for everyone? I enjoyed all of it. His intro and setting the stage for the real music to begin took 2.5 hours. Most artists would have been packing their bags and going home at this point, this man only just began to really unwind. Glitchy and broken? I don't think so. The clip in OP was taken out of context, he goes through every kind of sound, long and evolving to glitchy and chopped up, unifying them all into a one earthquake of a space opera. None of it it random. I don't mean to start another discussion of my artist is better than yours either but just cos you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not there.           -------------- Dark & Twisted Night Psy --------------

Well there's just more proof that its all subjective, because last show I went to I was looking for all the elements that you say are there, and I found them to be sorely lacking :\            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

I totally agree with Ultraviolence's description of Vasilys style and performance. I have seen him perform many times over the years and while it is indeed harsh sometimes indoors he's definitely one of the musicians who are totally into the music. I would agree that none of what he does is random even though it might appear like that to the untrained eye/ear.

And it is really pointless to judge his performance by a low quality youtube clip. I wish one day he would release a DVD + CD of his live set so people who didn't have the chance to see him live will see the real deal

people in usa call it neuro the new sub genre of darkpsy, that doesn't put the horror samples and scary atmospheres, but rather putting some more psychedelic fx and experimental sounds, in some other places this is called fullpower psy trance and on 3rd places hi tech psy trance           VA - Spiritual Science out now!
