Hi all i currently work in fl and I've made a few chill out psy dub type tracks but i was wondering on how to get a more realistic bass kinda like bluetech or even otts older bass. I've been playing around with boo bass and vanguard but no luck. heres an example

im pretty sure trillian is used quite a lot for this kind of stuff - very realistic sound!

trillian is your best bet. it has loads of waveforms to browse through and different filters that have tonally different mojo, but any synth with balls can do this as well (not vanguard, lol. try zebra/sylenth)
ott for example processes the shit out of his sounds, i.e. he said in a post once he bounces up to 7 times the same baselines after adding more fx. what i mean is, such baselines are not presets in any synth, you have to tweak it wisely and maybe hard to get there! if you want a hyperclear but punchy bass with the exact amount of harmonics to sound war you will take time to get there. here is what you could do:
take trillian, find a nice waveform, like the sh101 squaw, play on a midi keyboard until you find the punchy sweet spot of the wave and chosen filter type, than play a multi note bouncing baseline which is also part of the fluffyness of the sound!
now comes the fun, to make it sound nice and pulsating play with compression, (tube) saturation/ distortion and eq to make it clear fat and audible, use analogue modeled coloured fx to get there.. or even split the bass via pre fader out to two channels and lowpass one of them to process the subs on their own and add some slight chorus/delay on the upper harmonics of the second channel.. good luck trying, its mighty fun as soons as you see whats possible http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel "I've always been a believer in musical repetition to draw in the listener and make the music hypnotic. Thanks guys i have both zebra and sylenth I'm deff saving up for the other synth. another thing is what wave form would be a good starting point in either sylenth or zebra I'm so use to use in alien 303 for my psy basses .
for psyish dubish bass thingy it usually works for me putting square wave for tops and sine for subs. But i'm reason twat so cant say anything about the plugins you are talking about, though it should translate everywhere else.
