oh yes it is? but on the other way it isn't or just waiting in backyard - chill or ambient or downtempo or whatever you name it has no boundaries.
gabriel le mar goes very far on every boundarie and this guy marco repetto aka bigeneric is just mindblowing - his music is like a living being - chk him out:

I think this thread is a big step for us. No genre can ever get big without its core fans first declaring that the sound is dead

I was being entirely facetious and could really care less about the fact that people are saying psychill is dead. Music that is worthy to listen to will always shine through despite categories.
Buy my new "psychill" album direct from me via digital download (or CD for us fossils out there). Should be released in December / Jan.

Hey, thanks! 
After you all buy the new album from me direct I would be most open to having a forum debate as to whether one thinks it is "psychill", "psydub", "the lastest Shpongle/Ott ripoff" or "just plain crap".

time stretched voice samples of people talking about acid
vocoded, pitched and gated ethnic voices
wacky, overly glitched synth sounds....?

The Spectralite album carries the psychedelic ambient sound forward for me in a way that is interesting and avoids many of the usual psy-chill cliches...
also i noted that the line-up for the Boom festival did not really feature as many psy-chill artists as in years past. That is one indicator.
and over here the eco-system that supports trance has got ever smaller... and psy-chill doesn't really exist healthily outside of the trance context.

if I may plug one as well. We're working on a free release, compiled by Chillumafia under the title:
BASS ENCOUNTERS
of the deviant mind
The concept is to morph nighttime psychill with bass heavy dub/dubstep. psystep as it's called now. very twisted. very psychedelic.
it's just one direction that the psychill sound has 'deviated' to... so if you're curious keep an eye out for this one... it's a fresh lineup of underground talent... out in november.

I am personally slobering in wait for the new androcell, especially quasgas colla with lil john I think this will take psychill to the next level. Lots of using the nord in bad ways and pimp chalices. People music is music, like what you like don't label...if thats the case I am producing neoclassicalglitbient, which I'm sure you all will hate, so I'll bury it in the backyard with my mom, dad, and the baptist preacher I put through the wood chipper.
