I really dont know you im kinda disconnected from the ny people out here in PA, and I dont know much about house, but I read your profile and I understand you have a background, however I dont think it justifies childishly making fun of the djs
You are a professional right? so conduct yourself in such a manner that conveys that. Im not angry or anything, and maybe some day I will meet you, im sure you are a great guy, but I stand by my words and respectfully back down from this topic.

Hi Ray who are you? Maybe you are one of the many people I 'know' in the scene who's name I keep forgetting.. I'm really bad at keeping all the names straight. But I don't think I ever partied in your house and I've been in the NY scene 6 years...
Anyway as far as criticism goes, your comments won't be taken seriously if you trash people for the city they come from or the kind of mixer they like.
I have heard that you're a big gear snob, well so am I.. and I don't think the DJM-500 sounds much better than Pats Numark. Actually, the Numark might sound better...
We have used Pats Numark at the pines lots of times and it has sounded surprisingly good.
If you want to talk about quality, maybe Allen & Heath, Ecler. I would not give Pioneer mixers big praise for sound quality. At least not the 500/600. The new ones might be better. Last time I played at Psychground I played on the Rane mixer. It's a really great mixer but only being able to hear one track at a time in headphones, and a bigger issue, not being able to hear the eq in your headphones when in cue... Little bit annoying! I mixed ok with it, but I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting a different mixer. Wouldn't most DJs rather mix on the mixer they have at home that they are used to? I know I would, but I really like the mixer I have at home...
So far after all this drama all I've heard you say is that you don't like the kind of music Dave & Pat played, and that is a legitimate complaint though a personal one. Everyone likes different music. But why didn't you just say that in the first place, then we could all talk about psytrance which I think we would like to do...
Instead of starting in with personal insults...
Personally I think a DJ can only go so far in trying to please the crowd.. you can play around with the mood of your tracks trying to figure out what the crowd is looking for but sometimes different people want different things and this is very much the case in psychground where people come for a lot of different reasons.. and you cannot please everybody. The worst thing you can do is have a set that jumps around in mood too much. In situations like that the DJ can only please themselves and hope everyone else catches on...

Hi Ray, I listened to your track Dark Samba just now, had to switch to some real music aka psytrance, I was almost falling asleep. Why don't you just stay in your "House"
