Any tips on making the "psychedelic zipper" sound?
Good examples would be
Scorb - 13.5 Hours (excellent example)

not sure if it's the same thing as I havn't heard those tracks, but you can just do a pitch envelope on a saw wave.
Or specifically easy way to do it. Download Synth 1 if you don't already have it. Turn on Oscillator 2 and turn the mix so it's just Osc 2. Make sure it's set to saw wave. Hold down a key and start turning the pitch knob back and forth while recording the audio. If you run it through a HP filter with a little bit of an envelope on it to that'll give it more of a formant shape. You can also turn on the a.d.1 fx and mess with those till it sounds how you like.
