Hi psychedelic pineapples! in my state of mind

I think you can call it psychedelic trance .. But not psytrance.

Sorry to see that the word, 'trance' is only assosiated to fast pbm mr. Panzer

The 'state of trance' is not associated with fast BPM. The music genre 'trance' or 'psytrance' is...otherwise there would be no (psy)chillout or (psy)ambient.

Actualy it is, in a way. The frequency of Alpha Waves in our brain, which are critical in inducing trance state in a human being, lies somewhere around 8-12 cycles per second (it varies from person to person).
Now, when you have a stream of 16th notes (lets say a typical full on baseline) played at a tempo between 120-160 bpm you get a rate of 8-12 beats per sec... which means that basicaly, it synchronises with our alpha waves...

So I guess it is possible that the bpm has to do something with the trance state...

trance is nothing but a state of mind.thats what it means....literally!
i beg to differ snowflake, but a trance can be attained with music of any BPM....after all,its all in the mind!

I don´t think snoflake was trying to say, that fast bpm is necessary to get into trance, but that it can support it.

Quote:

Dennis R. Wier (The Trance Institute.ch):

Trance can be produced by the repetition of mantras, by chanting, by exposure to any repeated images. Regular drumbeats will produce trance. Formal hypnotic inductions will produce trance. Pacing or mirroring or imitating the gestures, body movements or affect of one person by another will produce trance. Complex human and ordinary activity such as falling in love, being absorbed in a TV program, marching in a parade, and even commuting to work all involve trance.

Interesting site all together. This is a link to an article about "getting high with trance"
http://www.trance.edu/gethigh.htm

Considering the topic I agree with Panzer, that 60bpm music would be rather called " (psy)chillout or (psy)ambient" than psytrance.

It's ture, Pointy, I wasn't trying to say it is necessary. It is just an interesting fact that relates this subject. It just came to show that there is a possible connection between the music and our brain activity, that can be explained in more than just sayin...

Off course it is, there is no doubt about it. But don't forget that "alpha waves" are in your mind as well...           Out Here We're Stoned....
