Hi guys,

I am studying psychedelic sounds design and music production for a while and I am curios what techniques do you use when you creates different sound scapes and enviroment staff. I dont know how to named it correctly. I dont think leads, pads... I mean maily random samples or noizes.

If you use single track for every sample and mix it separately or you put all this staff in one track, or you create loop first and then just use it in your track.

I am asking because I want to use many different sounds and sometimes I am struggled how to manage them. So if you can share some of your tips or recipe I will be very thankful.

Thx           https://soundcloud.com/nebulosity

It's much easier to make an interesting loop when you have a bunch of cool sounds to work with.

So, first step: acquire cool sounds.

This can be done in many ways...creating sounds from scratch with a synth, sampling from a movie or youtube, taking an existing sound and processing it a lot with various FX modules until its completely different...

one of the classic psy things to do is to have various squelchy bandpass-sawtooth + pitch modulation + filter modulation sounds...so make maybe 4 different patches with a different but somewhat similar feel to them and then bounce the down to audio.

Maybe sample a youtube video of an ocean and a bird call from outside, use a different synth to make a contrasting sine wave based sound that's much different than the sawtooth bandpass sound....

once you have all these cool sounds, now you can start trying to make a loop out of them. set your loop length and try different sounds at different times in different repetitions until there is some sort of interesting interaction

idk if that's helpful, cheers            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

I create most of my sounds from scratch. but using samples is good sometimes too, to get sounds and different influences than ure usal synthesis.
Pick your favorite synthesizer and just go nuts with it. Thats my best tip.
if you want the caracteristic psyish sound dig deeper in to the squelches.Use beat repeaters and gates in smart ways.
for a growlish sound use very low pitch saw waves, with loooads of resonance and mash it with distortion to get plastic acid mayhem or cracked up sounds.
Use multiple filters, bit crushers, decimators, get friends with lfo´s.
