very true.. it seems there is a tendancy for slower bpms in all genres...

And to be honest, I like it, maybe I'm getting old, but I nowadays prefer lower bpm's.
And what comes to the topic I believe that globally speaking the scene has never been this big before. I also think that the scene has changed quite much, at least if I look back to '98 when I started to listen this music. But then again, anything that exists also evolves, another thing is if the change has been positive or negative?

well my friend Shamanizer the change I don't know if it's negative or positive..The styles had defenately change from 98 till now..
This is incuding and the people...more drug addict persons are in the scene..since old days.More burn out heads..hehehe
And this not going to stop.

Fact is that from the biggining we had problems with the police but the nearly years we have more.If the cops listen that a psychedelic party is somewhere they gathering like beens around from honey..hehe

Is one of the reasons that some people turned to other styles of music??
Maybe it is after all.

Decrease in BPM is something that comes with maturity.

You can see it all over the place, at various timeframes--people who started out making 200 bpm gabber now make 160 bpm nustyle and people who started out making nustyle now make hardstyle or jump.

People who started out making 145 bpm epic trance now make 128 bpm tech house.

People who started out making drum n bass now make dubstep or glitch-hop or electro house.

People who started out making mid-90s style banging german techno now make more loungy minimal

Each new generation of younger producers starts out making in-your-face, high energy, hard and fast music. As they get older and wiser, they either naturally gravitate towards calmer, more intelligent styles....

...or they keep copypasting the stuff they were making before, because it makes them $$$

It's not something unique to here and now, nor is it unique to electronic music at all. Take any band which has been around for more than a decade and compare their original sound to their current sound, and with high probability you'll find they've gotten slower and more refined.

The end result is... while the style we know as "psytrance" may fade away, never to return, psychedelic music in general will never die, only continually rise from the ashes in a new form.

So Furious and Psykovsky have gotten younger and dumber as time has gone by?

I never said anything was 100% without exception

Psykovsky's music may have gotten faster, but I definitely feel his second album has a much less driving sound than his first, and it's far more intricate.

Fair enough.

But in general I think a lot of producers make slower/calmer music as they get older because they themselves, and their circle of friends, just aren't game for freaking out to crazy music all night anymore. It's more about grooving to some tunes and hanging out with friends at a club or a burn, etc. (with exceptions, of course ) So they make music more appropriate for those situations. Just doesn't strike me as an intelligence/wiser/intricacy dynamic.

VEry well put pete , specially considering how lately theres been a generalisation for fast "dark" psytrance = unintelligent/low quality music.

Thanks for your input !

+ the heart rate decreases as you get older. trance-dancing is pretty much a cardio workout that way.

HR max = 205.8 - (0.685 × age) ...somewhat
