how come swiss french artists and djs never get booked in swiss german parties and clubs? i see that there is an effort from swiss romand and tessin organisers to book swiss german acts and djs... so why not the other way round...
any organisers feel free to answer this as i m dying to find out if indeed this is some roesti-grabben syndrom reproduced in this scene!
the other thing is that swiss germans rarely make the journey south to our parties and events whereas there are always people from here going north.....
someone please enlighten me WHY????

hm...well...i would say the biggest problem is that we from the east are just lazy bums. there are always so many parties every weekend, and quite a few in the german part of switzerland, that there is not very much need to drive 2 or 3 hours, when there is a party that is only 1/2 hour or 1 hour away...
not that we have never been to mesocco or the valais, but this really needs more planning and is then a good weekend trip, instead of just one night out at a party...
that's my explanation to the misery...but i do indeed find it a bit sad, that swiss french artists are rarely booked to swiss german parties - that i can't explain, maybe the party promoters are too lazy to travel also and don't know them well enough?

to a better future connection!

i think probably we re all lazy! i was shocked in australia where people drive 5 hours for a cup of tea with a friend!
the issue that troubles me really is the fact that we seem to consider the different parts of this country as "foreign". i think that the key to a culture is language... so here we have 3 (well 4 really) cultures... its crazy to think that when i d like to communicate to other swiss people we have to use a language that s not from this country!
i really think that we d all gain from being more united - this could mean making sure that there are not too many big events on the same week-ends etc.
the other interesting thing is we seem to enjoy different styles - swiss german seem to be more into proggy and (israeli-)full- on and in swiss romand more psychedelic hard night time stuff. ok i know these are vast generalisations but there does seem to be this trend. correct me if i m wrong!
but knowing this we could make up very interesting parties made by people from each area.
when i read my post again it does sound like i m pissed off... not so! of course there are some bookings made but i d love to see one large scene that s strong rather than several not-so-strong smaller ones!

: ) so maybe i should travel to the west more often, hearing that you are more into the psychedelic hard night time stuff : ).

you're right about the progressive and full-on style here in the german part...funny acutally, that even these two styles separate the party people. even in my surrounding we have arguments about which party we should go to, because one likes this music better than the other and visversa. to start combining them all a bit more in one party would be nice...a little bit of everything for everybody.
and yes...less parties in terms of 'people unite youself' would be a great idea! i think then we would all travel more : )

i think people in german speaking area are just not aware of what the other swiss parts have to offer. the problem lies in the roots, as you described gaspard. the key to culture indeed is language...and when u wrote that sentence it was the first time i really got that we cant communicate together in any swiss language...
it's sad but its not only in psytrance           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

i think you are all quite right... it's sad, but it's true... the rosti-graben is still a strong reality...

when we make our parties (in the french part of switzerland), we often have more people coming from France than from the german-part of switzerland....
for sure this is also because of the really bad situation about politics & parties in France...
There's really a lot of people from romandie going every week-end in german-part of switzerland...
but not so many swiss-germans coming here....

I hope there will be more mix & 'métissages' in the future
