Monty Python have some great movies that i consider to be trippy. "The holy grail" is their best. |

DiMitry,
Do you like the original balde runner or the director's cut. I think the directors cut is better. Gives more depth to Ford's charachter and less hollywoodish ending.
Salmon, Not sure about poppins but maybe i'll try to view it sometime. After all a woman flying around with an umbrella must have been thought up by somebody who is at least familiar with drugs, hehe |

I only remember the Director's Cut of Bladerunner.. or maybe the two versions are fusing in my head. The director's cut is the one I saw most recently, and yes, it is really ambivalent about Dekker, and who he is. damn good movie.

Hmm Groove was a horrible movie hahah
that said:
I love film. Not just "psychadelic" films but all good film
First some more drug-friendly recos:
Alice by Jan Svankmajer...very dark, very trippy alice rendition; very good.
Quay Brother's shorts...these are terrific, although they seem a little too ambiguous for their symbolism to be accesibly broken down, they make for excellent visual film viewing: HIGHLY recommended
The Adventures of Tom Thumb...dunno where you can find this one but very nice visually and idealistically I think
All of these are claymation/stop motion and very well done at that...
Many good reco's above , won't repeat those
Here are some general good film recos:
Solaris - Tarkovsky's version
Stalker - Tarkovsky
Rashomon - Kurosawa
Rear Window - Hitchcock
Last Year at Marienbad - Resnais (very "psy" movie, very pretty as well)
Fitzcaraldo - Herzog
That's good for starters...figured I'd list some of my favorite pretentious-assed movies in cases anyone cares
ps.
Breakfast of Champions AND Slaughterhouse 5 have been remade into movies?!??! Whoa! Those are some of my favorite books
Any idea who did them?
Thanks for the tip

Lets see psychedelic movies .... I define psy movies as works that first of all have to be colorful, exciting (ne'r a dull moment) and ofcourse soundtrack selection. In that respect heres goes .... 3 .... 2 .... 1 ....
Fifth Element -Actually ne thing by Luc Besson
Clock Work Orange - Actually anything by Kubrick
Repulsion - Actually ne thing by Polanski (Ofcourse color is missing in repulsion - but he makes up for it with track selection - sorta)
Natural Born Killers - Actually ne thing by Martin
and ofcourse the award for best and coolest dialogue goes to Pulp Fiction (Warm .... Warm .... Disco)
Movies to watch when you are stoned:
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Holy shit Color, Track Selection and Cinematography - please by so kind to watch it with subtitles or you will loose out on the movie (the dubbin gives it a feel of an old jackie chang movie).
Requeim for a dream - I wish GMS would remix the movie.
aba aba aba aba thats all folks .....
"Dance - you need the excersise" |

Hels, Slaughterhouse 5 was by George Roy Hill... incredible film, one of my all time favorites.
Breakfast Of Champions was made by Alan Rudolph, in his typical inscrutable style
It's a curiosity to me, I haven't read the book and the plot is all over the map. Worth seeing I guess.
Oh, one psy-film I forgot... REPO MAN!
tiger got to hunt,
bird got to fly,
man got to sit and wonder why, why, why?
tiger got to sleep,
bird got to land,
man got to tell himself he understand. |

Er... because Los Angeles makes the most films, and L.A. is in America, and this is the American forum?
Or could it be that us lazy posters didn't notice the old thread? Nah, couldn't be...
Perhaps this should be marked with an OT for (Off Topic)...
