How about a thread that tells your story into a few lines and makes it easy for others to understand? Let me start and you will know what i'm talking about.
My experience so far:
· Started listening to random psytrance (like skazi, axtrix, infected mushroom, those commercial acts).
· Got interested in how psytrance instructed my mind, therefor i started to really listen to this mysterious genre.
· Discovered an unique artist (Frozen Ghost) that changed my entire music hearing and understanding style.
· Those first insane thoughts about making music started to pop up in my head.
· After a long time discovering new artists and new ways of psychedelic, got into producing, really just shitty stuff, but one has to start somewhere.
· After a few months on the taskforce (constantly making music) i got better and better at it and in the meantime i was rockin it out with heavier psychedelic tunes.
· After a long time making average trance, (because i couldn't even call that psy), i went into some sort of revolution in my own head, and believe me it was amazing how i changed my point of view about making music.
· Started to work on my "Jungle Rumble" tune which made me believe that maybe i had a spot in this scene.
· Today's day and i'm still learning, practicing and enjoying this genre.

nice thread
I used to be really into hip hop and rapping i would try to produce rap tunes but everything that kame out was real shitty so i just stuck to making rhymes then I came back to Mexico from the US and thats where i met my friend who listened to some really weird but awesome music and he gave me this cd...It had commercial acts too infected skazi eskimo etc...but i just listined to it nothing special...and then 2 months later my cousin invited me to go see void live I didnt even know who void was lol...then I took my first MDMA and 1/2 an acid...and I saw and heard these 2 fuckers ripping it up on stage when they opened with hellomoto I literally felt my mind being raped and then they just ohmygod I wanted to cry and thats when i realized I am wasting my life and this is what I should be doing It was lifechanging
So now im making allright trance but I dont feel its all that psychedelic yet its been 4 years now and im fucking adicted to this shit
I listin to everything from psytrance to full on night dont like darkpsy though
Im still learning too wishing i had more time for production but no work = no food jajaja
so thats pretty much me |

Cool thread Ethik. The lead in Frozen Ghost's "Giggly Twig" starting sometimes after one minute and 20 seconds gives me the chills.
-Used to be into heavy metal and blues..played guitar for like ten years..hated electronic music
-Moved to Israel and started liking trance a little more. Then 2 friends showed me Abomination and Entropy..mainly Entropy...when i heard that i gave up guitar music and only listened to Psy.
-Decided to produce over a year ago.Got a computer and Fl Studio and a link to this website.
-Sitting pretty much all day now learning and making music of all stles from Psy to Dub to Chill
Thanks to everyone on here
-Ive never been to a psytrance party or festival..and ive never taken a psychedelic.
Peace.

Here is my story:
-First i was listening to metal music
-Found some brothers old Goa CD`s,got realy amazed with the sound, than go to the first Goa trance party, drop first E and enter to another state of mind
-Kept going to partys, but music just wasn`t that good enough(full on),people changed, music changed,I changed(drugs).....found my way in progressive house....
-Progessive was weak and i always dreamed about of fusion of that two styles, than decide to do something with that
-Bought PC,found DAW(Fruity) and began to learn everything
-Than in my life comes job, girl,i left music and enjoy my spare time in love, but i wasn`t happy
-Found Isra, come back to producing, meanwille girls ditches me,quit my job and 2 years from now I`m focused on my music,knowledge....
-Now I`m into to buy new PC,decent monitors and to try to find some money for some more learning (SAE Institute-Audio Engeering)
-Working on my sound and few projects(Progressive-Trance and some kind of Progressive-Minimal-Tek-Trance),considering to work on Progressive-House and Hip-Hop but there is time for that
That`s all,learning every day,trying to be bether....
Peace (Sorry for bad english,Serbia here) |

- The planet i grew up on did not have any sound at all. Atmosphere was too thick for airwaves.
- At age 250 i went backpacking to learn about distant cultures, just like all other teenagers from my planet does.
- One time i met this little green dude (you may know him as a jedi trainer, but to him it's just a dayjob). He had a holo-disk with an illegal copy of Hallucinogen's "The lone deranger". He couldn't find "Twisted" even though he searched the entire Pleiadians.
- I went to Persei Omicron 8, where i met Lrrr, the ruler. I was captured, to be eaten... with a dash of salt. While i was trapped in jail, i could hear my captors throw a party; They were listening to Dr. Alban..... i laughed loud and psychotic.. i knew then my true call!
- For the last 700 years or so i've been producing my own stuff at a local studio on Mars.
  - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974 |

- since 94'(birth)-02' listened to Eiffle 65 & The Prodigy (still do!)
-2002 to 2004 i got into hip hop and pop
-2005 to 2008 i got BIG into heavy metal. Lost all contacts with the EDM style of music.
- 2009 i was sent the link to Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" track. Then i went to youtube and searched for more stuff like that and it led me to a track of infected mushroom's "Albibeno" and from then on i feel in love with trance... specially psytrance then 5-6 days after that i got the demo of fl and started (trying) to make music. I would just take random samples and try and fit them together XD then i progressed ALOT after watching some tutorials. and 2 1/2 yrs later here i am still in love with Trance and Psy! and still making music!! and i don't plan on stopping! hehe

- before 1998 I was into rock, metal, pop and mainstream electronica / dance music, from Ace of Base to Tiesto and Darude LOL.
- 2000 Started smoking weed and listened to commercial Punk like Offspring and GreenDay, also some HipHop like Everlast.
- 2003 to 2004 friend from college introduces me to Infected Mushroom, Skazi and Astrix, fell in love with sound. Went to first psy party ft. Skazi live... first LSD hit too... I melted and loved the style (Skazi did had a nice sound back then). Downloaded FL and understood nothing, started making stupid toy like beats.
- 2005 to 2006 Listened a lot of electronica, mostly Psytrance, Chill Out and Lounge music. My taste was mostly commercial FullOn like Audiotec, Dynamic, Astrix, DNA, AnandaShake... started downloading VSTs like Vanguard and though I finally had the tools hehe (got into isratrance forum). Got audio card and pair of monitors.
- 2007 to 2008 Fullon started to bore me, found myself at an event staring at artists like CosmicTone, Aquatica, Ultravoice and such just listening to same formula over and over. Really questioning everything about the "scene".
Then the only act that caught my attention that night: Loud
I hear this guy and immediately thought WTF is he doing. Really new sounds to my tired fullon taste.
I met very talented and educated producers from the national scene, one of them taught me Cubase 3sx, also started piano and music theory lessons.
I really got into production this time, finally I knew first hand how sounds I loved were made.
- 2009 to 2010 started listening to other styles of music. Got into minimal techno, tech house, nu breaks, elektro and such. Started to Dj in small events. My psytrance taste changed to more monotone stuff like Zen Mechanics, Paul Taylor, U-Recken, Burn In Noise, Ital...
Started producing techno and a more obscure kind of psytrance but keeping certain melodic context and freshness from fullon.
- 2011 spending much more time in production, got hardware synths, understanding much more about music and sound. Today I listen to pretty much everything that gets my attention, not much fullon tho. Started to finally end my tracks hehe... still trying to define my style and improve quality.
So far so good... |

- from 1982 - 1994: listened everything that i could hear out of speakers. about 6 years old i got intrigued by blue monday. At about that time Learned to play piano.
- From 1994 it was hardcore and gabber that i listened. Went to thunderdome in antwerp in 1997. Went completely crazy seeing 22000 people dancing the roof off. Later that year i talked with someone at school and he gave me a Goa trance cd.
I was directly sold to that weird spacey music. especially: bypass unit - zenia and tunnel flotation.
Later forget the music since i couldn't find it anywhere (pre internet). Listened some more to gabber, but slowly started to die...listen a bit to hip hop and club music.
1998: starting to go out experimenting xtc,weed,liquid,... club music all the way.
2001: met a friend at night at another friend. took some coke, went to his place...He puts on music wooow what was that? Infected mushroom, chiva shidapu....i flashed my brains out...
I fell again in love with goa. asked for the artist names and searched it with "napster ".
searched my way in goa and psytrance world on the net starting exploring astral projection, juno reaktor,...
in 2004 got fruityloops, started fiddling with the knobs. 2 years later my first midi controller ...
switched over to ableton and bought some hardware synths like virus TI.
still in love ith psy!!
access virus ti,waldorf blofeld, korg microkorg xl, roland sh-201, clavia nord wave, korg kaoss pad 3, DSI Tempest, hohner something... |

have heard all the tracks from bypass unit countless times..
They represent everything for me what "goa trance" stands for.
Real musical Quality unlike lots and lots and lots of crap that's out there today.
Not speaking about goasia,antares,filteria....Those are some fine goa artists.
peace out!
