Hey folks, so i just came across this song where i heard, probably the coolest sound on earth
its being introduced at 2:35, amazing stuff.
How does one make it?
it seems to need some sort of overdrive distortion or something?

sounds like a saw wave with some res. on a bandpass filter with a little bit of a glide and some distortion. then its just chopped up with some added modulations and effects at parts. my .02 http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik
it is not a sound that you are looking for, but a filter!
this can be a typical saw lead with 3 different formant filters at the same time.
i think that this one is made in tone2 gladiator. or with tone2 bifilter. tone2 has this "aeiou" filter with almost exactly the same envelope by default.
this sound also has another filter controlled by lfo and many other stuff but the main sound has that filter that makes it sound like a talking robot.
it is indeed a very special and veeeeery psychedelic sound.
space cat uses this a lot too.
there is also a free vst synth called "delay lama" that sounds a bit like this but it has only one unique sound, nothing more.

AAAAHH there's a filter making this? I was hoping i could use Vanguard for this, and add a plugin to achieve it. But hey, if Delay lama works for this sound i dont mind using it. its friggen awesome! It also sounds like theres an LFO modulated with the cutoff or something? anyways, i'll chck out your advices. thanks!

forget formant filter presets etc, do it yourself.
take a saw lead, add LFO (BP filter or LP filter with higher resonance), add a bit crusher (play with bitdepth), now at a EQ with highself to take out the harshness.
