Fear n Loathing in Las vegas was a great especially johnny depp's performance and that 14 yr chick on LSD
nyone seen SPUN, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM they 2 are intense like FEAR N LOATHING
HALF BAKED, HAROLD AND KUMAR on the lighter side
however my fav all time movie has gotta be BLOW- amazing performance by johnny depp

"House of 1000 Corpses" isn't bad. But I think I liked "The Devil's Rejects" (part two) better. And if you loved Requim For A Dream so much, why dont check out "Pi"? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0957772/ And dont forget to see "Waking Life"

If you like Alice then you may love Jan Svankmeier's version, made in late '80s
http://www.illumin.co.uk/svank/films/alice/alice.html
He is polish, I think, and his version is dark and extremely funny (especially the bit with Alice in the greenhouse - but then that's real funny in the book too)and he makes it all with dolls - like the White Rabbit who keeps pulling the stuffing out of his tummy when he wants to find his watch "I'm late!"
Its a wellknown art film anyhow...
One of my favourite movies with a psychedelic bent is 'Repoman' by Alex Cox, particularly the bit where everybody's brains have been slightly fried by the radioactive aliens in the boot of the car, and the scene with the guns and the standoff in the diner is VERY on the edge - put the gun down, you're hallucinating...
Other psychedelic films which are not necessarily overt include (for me) anything by Werner Herzog ('Nosferatu' is good; 'Aguirra, Wrath of God' has some trancy moments, especially the sequence with the boat in the tree (?))and he really makes nature BIG and humans very small - which is quite psychedelic
Other psychedelic films (for me) are probably underwater documentaries with all those pretty fish
PS. A student told me recently that they put on 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Dark Side of the Moon' together and it really does work
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night |
