Hi all,
I'm wondering about psytrance/goa vocal effects. I've not done much with integrating vocals yet and am trying to begin.
Like this:
And this:
And this:
Etc.
I've been digging around the forum but haven't seen any extensive topics unless I'm missing it. Any input would be awesome to get going in the right direction.

promethius sounds like granular or pitch shifting, gamma goblins sounds like might b that cool circuit bent keyboard/mic from this interview:
if i were trying to create those kind of effects id look into granular effect plugins, vocoders, and pitch/frequency shifters.

I don't know how to use a vocoder well at all but I'm not getting great results from Abletons Vocoder. Sounds really mechanical and nonorganic.
Should I continue with this one or use an alternative?

This is something I dont really understand:When you put vocals in,is mostly because you have something to say throu those.Yet many folks distort the fuck outta them.I mean, there is a limited space as it is in the track and somehow vocals tend to take good chunk of spectrum,so why chop and shmopand revere and fuck them generaly.
I mean,I'm all for using vocals a a part of general ambiancy ,but for real vocals, why trying to "psy em" up?
Let folks hear them without glitching and all that,I think making the vocals more defined with chorus, and the general delay based effects (all them phasers and whatnot),and offcourse a good dose of reverb is all it takes.Otherwise, what is the point,no one can make a single word out of it.
Offcourse, different strokes and all that, but all them vocoders are also uber overused, personally the most "psy" vocals Ive heard were not in psy tracks but in Ozzy Ozborn track, well, something like this.
Good, clean, and far,I dig it much, more then the vocoder glitch monstrosity.
From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)
This looks awesome! I don't understand what is actually needed to use it though... I guess you need one of their computer things and it comes with the software on it? You can't just get the software for a "normal" computer?

I actually saw Simon mention in an interview (remixing YB's Night Astray) that the Kyma machine is their least used bit of gear, due to it's programming language being unwieldy.

When I make music...and when I putting trough, vocals in my track,I dont lose much time on it! I just preffer some key changing...little reverb, and because I make music on FL,i set up the feed and time on the same line and I get the clean...wide vocal..and I use some sinths...to make it more better...if you understand me...thats a recept for good vocal...standard,clean,wide,with some reverb and delay!:)
Crazy kid..:)
