Hey Soundmagus,
cheers for all the effort but could you recommend me a decent mp4 player or codec?
Thx in advance, bro!

thx for the comments guys, hope you like the vids.
VLC player will play everything, although i would advise that you get one of the older versions as the new one seems buggy to me.0.8.6i seems to work just fine.
get it here : http://www.oldapps.com/VLC_Player.php
In the coming weeks once i have managed to get the course out (come on hosting company) i would appreciate any requests for video tutorials you guys would like to see (free ones that is) and if anyone would like to contribute video tutorials to the web site i would be happy to put them on the website.
Even though its called Cubase Guru the vids can be for any format.
My aim is to get a collection of high quality useful videos for free.
I know that the videos are very large, i can only apologise for this but i am trying to keep them in as best quality as possible, HOWEVER if anyone really struggles with the file sizes i would be happy to try and convert them to smaller file sizes (although i am not sure of the best tool to do this with) to make the dowbnloads easier although when i get my new hosting account it will be on a dedictaed server just for this site so it should be nice and fast also.
all the best,
Mark

CUBASE GURU PSY TRANCE PRODUCTION VIDEO – UPDATE
A brief update on how the hosting/domain transfer is coming along!
As notified in the last update I had to transfer my domain/hosting account to a new company. Unknown to me was the time it takes to complete this procedure.
Below is an excerpt from the email received today regarding this procedure.
“Transfer Form of Authorization
to Registrar: OpenSRSand Reseller: UKReg
“Your transfer request will now be submitted to the current registrar, and may take up to 7 days to complete. Below is your transfer authorization receipt; please print a copy for your files.”
This, I have to say rather shocked me as I assumed the transfer would have been 72 hours maximum instead its 7 days (working days).
Due to this the release of the course has been delayed until
Sunday 26th July
I can only apologise for those of you who are waiting for the opportunity to purchase the course
and hope that the extra time will not be too frustrating for you.
On a personal note I would like to thank all of you who have shown interest in the course, the response has been a little overwhelming and very humbling, so I thank you.
I can guarantee that the course will be LIVE on the www.cubaseguru.com site to download at a very reliable and consistent speed on the date mentioned above.
In the mean time I will endeavour to create more free tutorials and get them online using another domain I own as soon as humanly possible.
All the best,
Mark (Cubase Guru)

Hi Guys,
I have a question for those of you who are interested.
If you where buying this video course would you like to have the option of downloading
the high quality files which are very large and also have the choice to download the smaller files which will be in less quality but still very very watcheable, much better than you tube for example.
any thoughts appreciated.
Mark

With my 16 Mbit adsl connection I realy dont have problem on downloading large files so it would be nice to have it in avi format and full screen. You can try compressing them with program called Pocket Divx Encoder very good program maybe the best of this kind.
Just a little sugestion on free tutorials for example on Tuning vid when you play your kick and bass note you sound little low just talk louder a bit and i think that mp4 compression isnt good especially because those are vids about audio production.
High Quality +1 and realy thank you for starting this project.
EDIT:
Pls mods make this thread sticky because this is maybe one of the best share of infos on psy production.
Never let computers to win a game! :)

Milosh,
Thanks for your reply.
The reason i am using MP4 is to try and keep the file sizes down but with good quality, as it is with MP4 some of the files are 500mb + so AVI would be enormous.
I am currently formatting all the videos to real player format as i have found this to be the best compression (saves about 2 thirds on size but with obvious cost) and they can be viewed with Windows Media Classic which means you can avoid downloading Real player itself.
I will check out the encoder you mention but i am using Xilisoft Video Convertor Ultimate which seems to do the business.
TBH i dont really want to offer the smaller files but i also dont want to stop people with low BW getting the videos. Well i will leave the choice up to the person purchasing the course, they can have either or the can have both, its up to them.

What about WMV format?
I have a fast connection, but only 3gb of bandwidth a month. |

yo chemogen,
they are huge also for some reason.
I have settled on real player as the format for the smaller low res videos BUT i am supplying Windows Media Classic which reads these files so you dont need to install Real Player.
For MAC users i am afraid you need to use the MAC version of Real Player as far as i am aware.
all the best,
Mark
