Remember Full Color??? He was a jazz musician... In some courts, that counts as better training than classical music.
Parapsyched, you are indeed correct about it depending on how you use your music training. I was a violist for a number of years before being introduced to electronic music. There are some that use their training for melodies, which makes utter sense... But remember, there was no such thing as cheesy classical music... I tend to use some of the ear training that I got to avoid writing stuff completely off key....

One of the most difficult things about writing electronic music when you have been formally trained for a different style is figuring out which teachings transfer over to electronica and which do not. You kinda pick and choose which rules you want to follow.

The guys from Son Kite are trained as well... I saw one of them bust out a viola midi controller for their live set. Needless to say, I was totally lovin' that...

Yes, Seb from Son Kite. I think Ooze album wouldn't be done in such musical quality without training.

Also Bluetech. He's a trained piano player.

And I'm playing saxophone

Ok here are some ppl who took the same education as I or parts of it....

Ananocki
Dronebixie + Satans LIttle Helper = Hokus Pokus
GOW (Both of them)
Cosmo
Jahbo
Mussy Moody

Im must however stay very critic about this post , 'cause i DO NOT believe that just because you can play piano or have a degree in studio electronics makes you any better...What I do believe is that if you have the talent (and knows what psy is all about) you can take this media far.

Im quite shure that uneducated ppl. would flourish my top 10 if i had one....

One interresting observation however is that jazz musicians that have turned to psy, seems to be able to evovle trance.

Music is NOT about education, proof; Mozart!
